Everyone has whatever they lost. Somethings when you lose them it doesn’t give you are tag. But with some, it gives you that tag you will always carry to remember what that loss thought you. I lost a parent and that tagged me as an orphan. An orphan who went through a lot and learned from it.
I had wanted to share this with the blockchain family already. Thanks to @galenkp for fitting me in this weekend’s prompts. I want us all to know and take care of our kids before we are dead. Life can teach u learned anytime. Let’s make sure the future of our kids is in safe hands before you die as a parent. I have seen mine. Let me share my story.
A young guy growing up with everything in my father’s house. A home full of freedom and dreams. Dreams that had great potential. A future I was confident about. That was where I started. The home was the best place to be but yet life just thought me a lesson I can’t forget. My father’s riches were unmatched and I had friends that were even shy to come to my house. I never saw what they feared. I never thought I was privileged but I lived life as a simple individual without arrogance. Life gave me a test that I won’t forget.
Then on the 29th of September, 2011, I lost my dad. I lost that great man whom I saw hope in lost that steeping stone who gave me hope for my future. But deep down I had a feeling it was still the same because his riches would be used to make the future, I dreamt of becoming a reality. Maybe that was the part I got wrong. The riches he had, everything that that he gained and wished to make our future promising was taken from me. I had nothing from his property. From our part of the world will isn’t something many people write before they are gone. So, my family members came and took everything saying, “He is still a boy. What would he use these things for.” They forgot I had a future. I was in Primary 6 then. Yet to go to Junior high Senior High and then to the university. Everything was taken and that was when I was sent to my aunty.
My aunty is a porridge seller. Not a big one. Just small and even we the people in the house drunk from it every morning. She was the one who stood by me and did all she could to support my education. Her children supported me too but she was the main source of income and motivation for me. I wanted to make her proud and also prove other people wrong. Living there, I saw life has a different perspective as to where you grow. I learned that life just favors you in a bit and can test you in many ways. It wasn’t about freedom again. It was all about survival. I had to survive. The conditions the whereas a strange that. I cried for my dad who died. I was not only an orphan with no hope. But I had to succeed no matter what. What will this orphan do?
I built my network. I worked on myself to the top. In junior high, I build my network. A network of a company that I would always be proud of. They were there when I needed them the most. Life showed me how I showed made friends. I did my part and secured that. It wants an easy Junior moving from junior high school to senior high school. There was no money yet they believed in my dream and wanted me to pursue it. I did my part and they did theirs. There were times there wasn’t breakfast. No lunch unless a friend from school supports me with them. The meal I could only boast of was supper. But the dream was alive.
Sometimes the pain that it comes with is just on another level. A pain that we can’t grow without talking about. I am who I am today because of that pain it pushed me through. Life might push us too hard. We just have to know that no matter how much it does push us, it can’t break out. When we do our best to sail through, we will get stronger to face life’s most painful experiences. Just keep believing and pushing. I’m here today, national service personnel hoping to get permanent work after this year. Many of those who took my dad’s property thought that was all for me. But I believed in my dream. And I am grateful for how far I have come with Allah.
I lost my dad and his properties yet that didn’t stop me. when you keep going nothing is going to break you. You just have to tell yourself there is light at the end of the tunnel and push through to get it. We lose a lot but remember when we can make and grow through those losses we evolve into great people. Own your loss and evolve well. I owned mine and I am proud today that I did back then.
Morgan Freeman said it all with The best way to guarantee a loss is to quit. Make sure you don't quit✊
