The Steemit Culinary Challenge has now been running for 1 year, and is the longest running food contest on Steemit. Over the year we've seen hundreds of beautiful and inspiring recipes that have given us much joy to view and re-create. I posted most of these winners a few weeks ago but was missing about 20, but thankfully @englishtchrivy was able to send me links to the missing winners so now I have them all here for you to admire! What a tasty year it's been!
One of the most wonderful aspects of the Steemit Culinary Challenge is how, on an individual level, each new theme evokes real culinary imagination as participants vie to create dishes that not only look WOW but are made up of many layers of WOW... from the knowledge of the participants, to the carefully considered ingredients, to the preparation process, to the composition and arrangement, to the quality of photography and all the skills in-between necessary for successful food & health blogging. On a community level, the Steemit Culinary Challenge has brought so many people together... causing friendships to form, confidence to grow, the sharing of information and tips, thoughtful feedback, consequential dietary changes, experimentation, ideas for communal growth, and not to mention giving each other the support and encouragement necessary to maintain our community. It's rare to come across jealousy, rudeness, or insincerity, but instead the vibe seems to be genuine admiration, kindness, and solidarity amongst foodies!
The other great aspect of the SCC is the effects that the sharing of recipes and information has upon our health and health-related choices... I know I'm not the only one who has benefited greatly from learning about different foods, different preparation methods, introducing previously unfamiliar nutritional foods into my diet, amazing combinations of flavours and textures we may never have thought of ourselves and which make our meals all the more enjoyable. Not only do we get a wonderful assortment of dishes from all around the globe, but everyone seems to be on different diets too. Often those diets require a huge amount of creative thinking and careful thought about how to ensure nutritional needs are met... such as the raw vegan diet, or ketogenic diet, or even sweet-tooth-satisfying-sugar-free desserts!
It seems more and more people now are waking up to the truth about 'pretend food' (processed food) and getting passionate about creating real food instead! And because of this passion for food... this desire to share what we know... because of Steemit and our little 'foodie corner' and the SCC that brings all these new dishes into existence... and subsequent discussions about them...we are all benefiting... whether in terms of health, knowledge, artistic style, or simply the pleasure of it all!
