Now It Starts Getting Good! Velocity Skateboarding Episode 3: Prairie Rush

Finally the video that match the video!

Prairie Rush is a longboard race / slide jam that is held in Minnedosa, Manitoba, because it's one of the few places with hills here. It's by far the most challenging race we have, which has caused some issues with getting people to show up, since most of our members have never skated down a real hill. Of course for someone like Kyle Martin, who has raced world class courses all over the world it's a cake walk, but for those of us who have only skated in the prairies, it's the scariest road most of us have seen! The first year we put on this event we all were sliding the first corner because no one believed it was possible to grip the corner like we do in the video. But then the second year, Matt Stene(rider in the blue shirt who put a hole in his pants) showed up with fresh grip wheels, and we all had to start taking this corner at full speed so we could compete with him.

Luckily since we made friends with the Saskatoon longboard club, they rally more skaters to come out to the event, who are down for big hills and fast corners. On top of that, Kyle Martin, the one in the amazingly painted areo helmet winning all his runs, heard about the event, and happened to be in the area for another event. So despite low numbers, this got everyone stoked at the event, and made it our best Prairie Rush yet!

Velocity Skateboarding

Episode 3 really is when the series begins to take off! At first me and Scotty were just getting to know each other, so it was a bit rocky, but the once we the events started happening, we had gotten a grove going. Scotty was also really starting to see the bigger longboard scene, and this got him excited for the even bigger events to come!

Don't miss my write ups of the previous episodes!
