I wanted to take some time to introduce folks to a project called Sitka World.
The Scholar & Scribe community has been working with the Sitka World founders for a few months now, and we will soon see the first major Hive collaboration with this exciting team.
🔮 Sitka World in a nutshell
It is a fantasy worldbuilding project, centred around a 3-part novel that has been in the works for several years. The novel will be released in parts, as NFTs. Holders of various Sitka World NFTs will be able to share in royalties from both web3 and web2 sales.
The novel is just the start, however. The whole Sitka World includes roleplaying, gorgeous art, writers workshops and training, partnerships with web3 publishers, and more.

S&S is not just another writing group on Hive. Part of our mission is to explore the wider world of writing on web3 and build bridges between it and Hive.
To that end, Sitka World is exactly the kind of project we want to support!

- The project has long term goals
- They work slowly and transparently
- Writing and web3 publishing is part of their core ethos
- They are connected to many other interesting projects
✅ Benefit to Hive: We want to, over time, introduce their community members to the Hive ecosystem. Starting with writing on the Hive Blog, of course!
✅ How Hive benefits Sitka World: Currently, their community is managed almost entirely via Discord. Hive could provide forum-style and static content platform. Also, Hive users may be interested in what they’re doing in general and become fans, supporters and/or investors.

📚 The Act NFTs
There are three books, each with three Acts.
Every Act will be an NFT, with a supply of 1,111 (for Book 1).
Minting (and holding) Act I allows you to mint Act II for free. Holding Act II does the same for Act III. Holding all three Acts allows you to burn them for a Book NFT, which entitles holders to much more royalty shares. The idea here is to incentivize holding over speculation 😃
💸 Royalty system
Summarized from the whitepaper:
A full 50% of all royalties, for all Acts and Books after Act I, including NFT sales (mints and secondary market royalties) and e-book, paperback, and audiobook royalties, will be available to be distributed to community members that contribute to the story.
"Royalties" are defined as what amount is available to be paid to all authors (including Rae), after all project expenses have been paid. In traditional publishing, this is often only 10%–25% of sales; for Sitka World, this should be more like 30–40% of NFT sales and approximately 30% of traditional book and ebook sales.
🎮 Gaming
Sitka would eventually like to extend their extensive lore and NFT collection into the gaming world. As they say: “We see gaming as an extension of storytelling—perhaps the most immersive form.”
While nothing definitive has been started in this direction, perhaps folks here on Hive would be keen to explore a partnership…
🏛️ Guild of Scribes
Of particular interest to Scholar and Scribe (and not just because of the name), the Guild of Scribes is Sitka World’s ambition to connect web3 writers to paying gigs. A long term vision is for the brand to be a hub for all things writing and web3. This is very much in line with what S&S aims to do, so we will definitely be supporting this effort and keeping Hive writers appraised!
