The prompt this week is - Small Gods
When we're worldbuilding, one of the standard starting points is a pantheon of deities, the god or gods which rule the world you are designing. Even in science fiction settings, religion has a place.
But what about the small gods ? The ones whose domain is a grove of trees, a watery pool or a small river ? What about household gods ? Many early societies worshipped their ancestors, burying their bones under the floor or bed. Some bought the skulls out for festivals and spoke to them as if they ere still alive. The Romans all had a shrine to household gods; the gods of hearth, home and clan. Tell me about your setting - what small gods exist, who worships them, and how ? What strange rituals do people follow, and how do the big gods and authorities view them ?
