Triple Play Fun Park in Hayden Idaho - Thursday

After the first night we were all up fairly early yesterday morning. We had bowled which didn't take too much out of the boys though they did sleep pretty well. We got them fed then headed back to the room to wait for the park and pool to open at 10am.

We all were ready and by 10:30 had made it to the pool. The water park has 4 slides that you climb the stairs to get to the entrance of and they drop you out in the left corner below the toilet bowl part of the one slide. Beneath the bowl to the right is where the hot tub is and it has a port to the outside part of the hot tub. The wave pool takes up a good amount of space and will have foot tall waves at the highest.

We spent a couple hours in the pool area before the boys were getting hungry and we decided to go find something to satiate them.

3 blocks north of the hotel is Capone's bar and grill which I have heard about for years but never eaten at. Huge selection of beer on tap and really good food, the place has been a staple of the area for over 20 years.

After the pool time earlier R's hair was such that it looked like his devil horns were showing.

On our way back to the hotel after eating they had to climb on the baseballs out front of the restaurant.

Once back we headed out to the go-karts to go for a ride. @stryeyz took R and I took J. The karts have little 5hp Honda motors on them and they are governed to a moderate speed.

We started in the 3rd car back and it was not long before I had passed them and was booking it around the course. It's super fun to hit the apex of the corners and feel the tires just barely holding traction. I never touched the brake until the end. I ended up catching up to the back of the pack then spent a few laps hitting the outside of every corner. It is striking the difference in lap time from taking the shortest path around to the longest path around. We got 10 laps in and when we were done there was a long line of people waiting, we had hit it at the perfect timing.

After the karts we went inside and climbed around the ropes course which the boys were a bit leery of. It is about the safest thing possible with the way the leash attaches the beams overhead.

We then went to the Hologate which is a VR game. It was interesting but didn't quite work right. The boys liked it a lot though.

They tried the Vault but it was not the best as they tried the laser buster, the laser avoid game would probably last a lot longer.

There was a line for the laser tag so I went to the room for a few minutes and when I was back up the 3 of them were inside playing. Their team lost the first game but won the second. All 3 of them were just about sweating from the warmth of the room.

We then went to the arcade for a while and amassed tickets for the boys. We each only used $5 worth and will have the same loaded today for our second day pass. I found that I like the physical games like ball tosses, bean bag tosses, and the such as they are far more dependent on my skill rather than the randomness of the digital.

After heading back to the room we grabbed our growlers and headed next door to the brewery. This is the view of the slides and the tower where the top of them are. The hotel and park are connected by a skyway just on the other side of the tower.

The brewery had the back door open as we walked by and I had to stare at the setup for a bit.

Out back sat an empty 250 gallon container for apple juice which they used for one of their ciders.

The boys munched on leftovers in the room and some snacks then we went back to the pool which was busier than earlier. I spent a fair amount of time in the hot tub and did some runs down the slides. I did a run down the blue tube that went into the red toilet bowl by myself and managed to get 3 full rotations around it before dropping down. The key is to lean to the uphill side as you wing around it on the tube.

It was after 9pm when we got to the point of getting tired and the boys were both well worked.

This is the quintessential picture of two very tired and happy boys after a long day of fun.

Today we will be going to the pool as soon as it opens then we will need to come back to the room and get everything packed up and loaded up so we can check out. We will spend the afternoon here until around 4 when our friend gets off work and we will head up to their place for dinner before heading back over the hump to our farm.
