The year is 2074, the world has been plunged into darkness. One girl, Sarah Doe, will learn the secrets of the dark forces that run the ruined world. With the help of a few friends, her family, and her own powers she will fight to return the world to an order not known since well before her birth. Will she succeed? Read to find out!

Scene: Dr. Bureaus office. He is on the phone.
Dr: Smith is taken care of. Yes. The bodies are in a crashed transport. They should be there awhile before the party comes looking.
Unfortunately…. Sarah…. got away.
He holds the phone away from his ear and the voice of Headmistress Matthews can be heard shrieking through the earpiece.
Dr: Yes. I know. We don’t think she got far without a suit. I need suits to send the orphans out to find her.
The sooner the better.
Scene: Interior of the airlock. Sarah wakes up and cringes in pain. She can see through the small window that it is night outside. She looks at her hand and sees it is mostly healed. But her right arm is slumped. The skin on her hands, arms, legs, and feet are still red from the caustic burns from the air outside.
She looks around the dark room and spots a rack with two suits on it. There are masks just below.
After some time she manages to get into one of the suits, though it’s a little large for her. The mask is adjustable and she manages to tighten it just enough to get a seal.
S: (Should I leave now or wait until morning? The orphans will be after me… I need to get a head start on them.)
Timidly she opens the airlock door and peaks out. The street is empty except for a few dogs a block away.
S: (I can handle dogs…)
She steps out into the street and starts calmly walking the opposite direction of the dogs.
S: (Have to find a street sign, what quad is this?)
She finds a sign, “SE”.
S: (The library is in the NW quad. I doubt Ruby’s friends will be there after this long… I don’t even know how long it’s been… but it’s all I can do…)
She hears the whir of a transport nearby so she hides behind a pile of debris. The transport parks near the laboratory airlock and two men get out.
S: (The orderlies, they must be bringing suits for the orphans…)
They unload a crate into the airlock and then speed away. Sarah slowly creeps off away from the lab.
