Groundcherry (Physalis peruviana) | The Unique Plant

Hi everyone! What's up? I hope y'all fine and happy as always.

Guess what! I've found something interesting. I found a unique plant. And i didn't have to go far to find it, it's right beside my house!

Ta-daaa...

See? The plant's name is Cherry... Ground... Nah, i mean... Groundcherry!

Yep, groundcherry. Its scientific name is Physalis peruviana. This is a wild plant. It can grow anywhere, in the lowlands or highlands, as long as the soil isn't wet. I found this growing in the empty field beside my house.

In my opinion, the most unique thing about this plant is the fruit. Cuz the groundcherries are naturally wrapped in its leaf husk. So u must open the husk first to eat a groundcherry, just like a candy!

But unfortunately, these groundcherries are still raw. Haha.
The raw groundcherries are green. And ripe groundcherries are yellow in dried leaf husk. The taste is sweet and sour, maybe like the taste between tomatoes and pineapples. One sign that a groundcherry is ripe, it'll fall on its own to the ground. And that's why its name is groundcherry.

Groundcherry also has some nutritional content. For each ripe groundcherry contains fisalin, cryptoxanthin, tannins, alkaloids, malic acid, citrus acid, vitamin C, and antioxidants. So this is very useful for our body health and can prevent various diseases, such as cancer, asthma, malaria, rheumatism, dermatitis, and hepatitis.

However, raw groundcherry will cause the opposite effects. Watch out, don't eat the raw groundcherries! We just can eat the ripe groundcherries, cuz the raw groundcherries are toxic.

Oh, and this is the flower of groundcherry.

Okay guys, that's all my post for today. Hope u like it. I'm sorry if i made some mistakes in this post. And thanks alot for ur visit!

See ya later!
