Water…… As far as you can see!😅
The Mrs was checking the river levels on line………………
“ Silvertop the river rose almost ten feet overnight, and one foot since this morning!”😳
That’s not good…………..😮
Liz wanted to stop by our Local Coin shop in town………. More on that on tomorrow’s post!😇
Silvertop wanted to check out the flood waters at the riverside park he had just visited a couple of days ago.
Silvertop is a bit “Adventurous” to say the least! So after Liz parked her car, I planned on hiking the gravel foot path alongside the river, and snap a few photos of the rising waters!😇
The Mrs and I came to a dead stop!😳
“ Honey, did you see that log that just flowed by! The river is over its banks, and the trail is cut off into sections that are under water!”😮
The fifth photo is the Nooksack river, the water was just a couple of feet below the bridge deck! The next photo is what everyone calls “ Lake Lynden “ this large expanse of flat cornfield turns into a lake as far as you can see!
Today, the river looked like it jumped the levy/dyke, and this became an extension of the river!
When they say “use this trail at your own risk” they aren’t kidding!
Liz and Silvertop jumped a section of flooded hiking trail and continued down the trail………….
Water at this point was on both sides of us.
It wasn’t rising quickly but………
I started to look around, and “IF” the water started rising fast, both of us would be walking through frigid water to make it to our car!
“ Time to go Liz!”😮
I actually was surprised the the city hadn’t closed this park, fast moving flood waters are nothing to mess around with!😇
