馃尯500 饾櫆 medium-sized ridge gourds (Turae), peeled and chopped
馃尯 1/2 cup chana dal, soaked for 1-2 hours
馃尯1 medium onion, finely chopped
馃尯1 medium tomato, finely chopped
馃尯2-3 green chilies,
馃尯1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
馃尯1 teaspoon cumin seeds
馃尯1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
馃尯 Salt to taste
馃尯 2 tablespoons oil
馃尯 Fresh coriander leaves, chopped for garnish

馃崁 Soak the chana dal for 1-2 hours. Drain and set aside.Peel and chop the ridge gourds into small pieces.

馃崁 In a pressure cooker, add the soaked chana dal with enough water to cover it. Cook for 1-2 whistles until the dal is soft but not mushy. Set aside.

馃崁 Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds . Let them splutter.Add chopped onions ,green chilies and saut茅 until they turn golden brown.
馃崁 Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft and mushy.
馃崁 Add the chopped ridge gourd pieces. Mix well and cook for 5-7 minutes until the ridge gourd softens.
馃崁Add the cooked chana dal . Mix well and let it simmer for another 5-10 minutes so that the flavors combine well.
