Sam, the twelve-year-old kid who just started junior high school, has become the talk of the town because of the many inventions he has been able to come up with. Having his parents support his every project helped put him in the spotlight, and Sam wanted to do even more, not minding what it takes or how long it will take him; all he wanted was to keep his dream of becoming a mechatronics engineer when he grows up alive. What other kids do for fun, Sam finds boring and will not want to participate in it as he spends most of his time reading books, watching documentaries, and watching tutorial videos online, and all that have helped fuel his desire to do more and helped broaden his knowledge as well.
"Sam the wonder kid, you are now the talk of the town, my boy. I am super proud of you. I went to the supermarket to buy groceries, and I could hear everyone talk about you and your last invention." Sam's mom, who just got back from the supermarket, said as she kissed his forehead.
Other kids in the neighborhood feels lost whenever they are around Sam because of the level of his intelligence, but Sam on the other hand tries to carry them along and tries not to make them feel less of themselves as he encourages them to read more too and not all go around playing.
"I wonder how you do it, Sam. I don't even know if this should be called a talent or if you are just blessed." Juliet Sam's friend said that while they were having lunch in school.
"Sometimes I feel you are a reincarnation of the likes of Albert Einstein." Jude chipped in as they all burst into laughter.
"Well, I strongly doubt if I am a reincarnation of anyone, I am just a boy who wants to do really great things in the science field." Sam responded.
"So tell us how you do it, how do you come up with all these cool stuffs? Do you hear voices whisper to you? We really want to know." Juliet asked sitting up to hear the secret behind all his inventions.
"Hehe, no voices at all; all you need is to read books, follow up on science documentaries, understand the logic of how things work, and you need to stay curious about things for you to come up with any inventions. This should do for a start, but over time you will need more than that." Sam said as he smiled.
"Now I see why you don't even play with us; you are too busy and caught up with coming up with cool stuff and don't have time for fun. A little fun won't hurt, you know that, right, Sam?" Jude asked.
"Science is fun, my friend. Who would have thought putting wires and chips together would be so fun? You might think it is not, but if you fall in love with science, you come to realize that everything that has to do with science is fun, and you will not want to do anything else that is not science-related." Sam responded.
"Just do you, Sam; the break period is over, and we have to head back to class now." Juliet said as they packed up their bags and lunch box.
They packed up and left the dining hall all empty, and on reaching the classroom, Sam got the type of assignment he has always longed for, the type that will keep him busy for the next few weeks, and it made him love his science teacher even more.
"So today I will be giving you guys an assignment that will keep you busy over the midterm break, and on resumption I expect you all to have my assignment ready, not to forget I will be pairing you guys up in groups." Mrs. David said, and immediately Jude and Juliet rushed to pair with Sam since he has always been of great help to them when it comes to assignments.
"So, what will the assignment be like, ma'am?" One of the students asked.
"Great question, so I would like you guys to construct any robot of your choice, and if you cannot pair up with someone who can,. It must not be able to move; you can just come up with a body construction, and you can call it whatever you want." Mrs. David
"Woooo" Sam screamed ontop of his voice "assignments like this I love." Sam added as he did a high five with Jude
"So what should we be expecting from you Sam?" Mrs David asked "or better still shock us." Mrs David added as she exit the class.
Sam went home a happy man, he started working on his project without even wasting time as mid term break will only last a few weeks and what he had in mind would require more than that. He had his group members come over to his house to work on their project in his father's garage while his mom always made sure they were snacks available for all of them his father made sure he bever lacked power supply and all that he needed to complete his project.
Time flies, Sam and his team were able to come up with something magnificent just two days to resumption.
"But Sam, we worked on this with you, but I still don't know what it does or what it has been programmed to do." Juliet asked out of curiosity.
"I hate to take out the trash. I have programmed this to take out trash, though it will be submitted to the school and probably left in the lab. I might get another one up and running to help me with the trash." Sam responded with a smile on his face as he admired their invention, though mostly his invention as he was the brain behind everything.
Two days later they happily went to school to show Mrs. David what they had come up with, and even Mrs. David was super proud they were able to pull such a thing off; she posted it on social media, and Sam and his team were offered scholarships by a science company and promised them a spot in their company whenever they are ready and done with studies.
