Alone and calm, she spoke without uttering a word. Whispers roamed through her mind. Who knows if they will repeat? Suddenly something catches her attention. It is a small object, barely visible to weak eyes like hers. She holds it in her hand after hastily picking it up from the ground out of curiosity.

—It’s a cookie! —she exclaims with surprise.

A strange cookie, with granules on its crust and a dark cream peeking from its interior. She opens it. What do we see? A little paper, long, but not so long as to fall at her feet.

She sighs.

—How boring! —she says while reading the message on the paper.

You will play the melody that is in your mind. An absurd message, for Sonora Beckins has long stopped creating music within her. Or am I mistaken? It has been a while since she sat in front of the piano to delight others with her chords.

—Why is everything so boring today? —she complains, and her voice spreads through the air laden with frustration.

It is strange to hear Sonora complain twice in a row in the same place. That makes me suspicious. Is there something in her heart that wants to come out? Perhaps that is the cause of her anger every time she is told to go to Dani's house to see his new grand piano.

She screams, startling the gray cat that had tried to approach her legs in search of affection.

“Sonora, Sonora. What is the part of you that you are hiding developing? Sometimes you can’t handle everything by yourself. Let go of the fortune cookie; it seems that its prophecy has put you in this state.”

—I’m going to do it! —she suddenly declared, with such determination that I got the impression she was going to do something she shouldn’t.

“Sonora wait, think it over and let go of that cookie.” But no, she keeps looking at the fortune cookie paper, even squeezing it tightly between her fingers. What a demon with blue eyes and blonde hair now running toward the street. Where will she dare to go with such temperament? No one can stand you more than I can, Sonora, your faithful consciousness; and I suppose there are limits.

—Sonora, where are you going if you told me you would help me wash? —her mom shouted, causing her to stop dead in her tracks. Yes! Come back, your place is safe from the world with that character or, better yet, it’s best to protect the world from your personality. But... Oh no, there she goes again.

—Sorry, mom. I’ll be right back and I promise I’ll wash everything in less than an hour.

She left without remorse.

Wow, not even her mother can completely anesthetize her. Where are you going? Where are you taking me? Don’t you dare. I’m starting to hear music inside you; still somewhat distant, but no, no, no. We already talked about this. Your last failure as a composer cost us almost a year without seeing the sunlight. We can’t go back to that dark and desolate hole. I’m saying this for our own good. Trust me; I am your consciousness after all.

—Yes, this time will be great and fantastic. There’s nothing to fear —she murmurs to herself, although aloud, in the middle of the crowded street.

Don’t do it Sonora, I beg you. Feeding that dream again, only to fall once more will be a blow we won’t be able to withstand this time. Damn that fortune cookie that crossed your path. Who threw it into your yard? Fate? Is it so cruel and wicked? Damn it, I see my vivid hell this time more clearly.

—Sonora! —exclaimed Dani, the friend, upon seeing her standing in front of his door. Yes, that short friend from art school whom I once thought they would end up hooking up, but Sonora never listens to me and immediately relegated him to the exclusive friends zone. How frustrating, considering how diligent and talented he is.

—I want to create music —Sonora pronounced. Her friend, as if wanting to ignore what had happened the last time she expressed those words, smiled at her and let her into his house.

Inside, she found herself face to face with the new grand piano that so many acquaintances had informed her about. She observed it with admiration, caressing its polished surface before sitting down to play. And so, Sonora began to make music, an incredible melody that resonated throughout the neighborhood, captivating those who could hear it.

—You’re wonderful, just like in the old days —said her friend, recalling the old Sonora, before the judges of a competition she entered tore her apart with cruel criticism of her compositions.

Dani's family, drawn by the enchanting sound, approached the room where the piano was located to see who was playing with such passion and skill. They were greatly surprised when they saw Sonora. Dani sat next to her, improvising some chords that intertwined perfectly with the melody she was creating.

—Beautiful! —exclaimed his mom while watching them with a wide smile and clapping enthusiastically.

Yes, how beautiful it is to see how a prediction becomes reality and personal dreams find their way. Well, Sonora, I am here to support you once again.

¿O me equivoco?

—¡Voy a hacerlo!

¿A dónde me llevas? No te atrevas.
