It's another beautiful weekend and i say happy weekend. I'm fab-tay@fab-tay and i welcome us all to weekend-engagement 193 on this @weekendexperiences community on this hive platform and i commend galenkp@galenkp for the great job been done. In this week engagement, my discussion will be on saving life which is in-line with my training as a Pharmacist (healthcare professional) and how i have saved lives at different times and the delightful feedback from such experiences. As a Pharmacist working in a community based Pharmacy premise, everyday i attend to patients for consultations on different health issues and some are life saving. There was this particular day in Year 2021 in the night and is about time to close for that day and i was tired because it was a busy day, a patient (man, adult) was rushed down to the Pharmacy premise i was by a man and a lady. He can nearly walk, crying, exhausted, fatigued and was complaining of serious pain all over his body, on consultation found out he has overstressed himself and ignored serious cautions by his immediate family. I intervened, administered some drugs both oral and injectables with other things, in just about 10 minutes, everything becomes normalised to the surprise of everyone and he was later discharged that night and able to walk by himself and he is to be placed on bedrest for some days. We close very late, i was tired but my delight was that a life was saved that day. I also remembered another patient (man, adult, single) who was also rushed down by his friends to the community Pharmacy premise where i worked, he was down with severe case of malaria and a serious stomach issue. He was helped by his friends to walk and seriously exhausted, it wasn't a good sight to behold at all. I consulted them and found out some vital informations from them and i intervened. After administering him drugs both injectable and tablet to be continued with, the patient requested if he can be allowed to sleep in my office forawhile, i granted the request and he slept. On waking up to the amazement of his friends who i told to not disturb him, he was back to his feet, refreshed and able to follow them home. I told them other things to do and medication adherence for proper treatment, few days after that they all came back joyful and thankful. In addition, a woman came complaining of serious headache and some other complaints who after i checked her blood pressure was found to be seriously high, immediately i placed her on drugs and allowed her to rest. I checked it again and it has come down to a reasonable extent, then i asked her to continue her medications and on bedrest. She do come for recheck and in no time it was reasonably controlled and she was much better. This is a life threatening condition which has sent many to untimely grave or deformity if not properly managed ontime. There has been cases of road traffic accidents brought for immediate first aid treatment before any referral if there is need to been a community Pharmacy premise very close to a major road. Also, there has been cases of children been rushed down from school due to one injury, disease condition/health challenge etc. By the virtue of this great privilege of my profession and experience gotten over time, i have seen, handled and experienced some life threatening conditions if not for immediate interventions may result in unpalatable situation. Saving life is my job and delight which am privileged and glad to do. Thanks for reading.
