People tell you that life is short, and you should do things now.
In reality that is not the case. In fact it's the other way around.
Life is extremely long if you survive. It's painful to live after age of 70. Imagine you having to rely on other people. It's not short life, it's long painful life.
On the other hand, think about all the people who have not even managed to live to the age of 30. Some of them died after birth, some of them died after age of 10, 20, 15 or any age you can put there.

You would realize that it's not the life that is short. It's the time given by god that is short. Sometimes you are supposed to do only that much amount of service to the world.
Like some people are born to parents who want child and then die after 10 or so years. And those parents stay alive till 80 or so would feel the life as pain but they live in the memory of the child they had.
Suffering is Real, Sins are Real
When you live long enough, you tend to face the suffering of your life. You must have done the sins that make you live long enough and face troubles. When you do you have to understand that knowingly now or previous life you did something wrong.
Life is short or long based on your sins and the suffering you have to tolerate. When you die early, you are being deprived of life and you paid your karma dues. And you move ahead to the god for the judgement.
Time has a Meaning
God or any process of this universe keeping you alive and giving you chance to be in this world. You are supposed to do something with that time. Like be a good person, be a good father, brother, mother, daughter etc.
If you make good use of that time and pay your karma dues and get over the suffering of sins, you move ahead in life. And you are not bound to those issues of the life anymore.
Time is short in that context. Life is very long if your karma shows you the suffering.
Imagine being broke and forced to live till 100. You would cry, suffer and nobody would care for you.
So in karma context, life is extremely long but time to suffer, time to enjoy, time to stay alive is extremely short.
Time is short, life is long.
