Marco Zero, Recife- Brasil
Some time ago I planned a vacation to Brazil and spent a few days in the state of Pernambuco. In this place there is a municipality called Olinda, I had never heard of it, that day I was in Recife, the state capital, I did not have many plans, it was my first day in the city so I decided to go to the center, I took an uber and I left.
On the way I talked to the driver (in a little evolved Portuguese) and he dropped me off downtown. I walked until I got to the plaza do Marco Zero, from this place all the routes in the state of Pernambuco are measured, it is a historic site located in the heart of old Recife, there are also restaurants, stores and a beautiful view.
Doing this tour I met the uber driver, we talked for a while and he offered to take me to a better place and that's when I heard her name Olinda for the first time.

Hace algún tiempo planifiqué unas vacaciones a Brasil y estuve unos días en el estado de Pernambuco. En este lugar hay un municipio llamado Olinda jamás había oído hablar de ella, ese día yo estaba en Recife, la capital del estado, no tenia muchos planes, era mi primer día en la ciudad entonces, decidí ir a el centro, tomé un uber y me fui.
En el trayecto converse con el conductor (en un portugués un poco evolucionado) y este me dejo en el centro. Camine hasta llegar a la plaza do Marco Zero, desde este lugar se miden todas las rutas en el estado de Pernambuco, es un sitio histórico ubicado en pleno Recife antiguo, a demás hay restaurantes, tiendas y una hermosa vista.
Haciendo este recorrido me encontré al conductor de uber, conversamos rato y se ofreció a llevarme a un mejor lugar y ahí fue cuando la oi nombrar a Olinda por primera vez.
Olinda, mirador
Olinda is 30 minutes away, this city was one of the richest in Brazil during the colonial times, it is characterized for being one of the best preserved colonial cities in the country and in 1982 it was declared historical and cultural heritage of humanity.

In this place we find the cathedral or Sé de Olinda: the igreja do Senhor Salvador do Mundo, which is the oldest church in Brazil. From here we can appreciate one of the most beautiful views of the city.
En este lugar esta encontramos a catedral o Sé de Olinda: la igreja do Senhor Salvador do Mundo, la cual es la iglesa mas antigua a todo Brasil. Desde aquí podemos aprecias unas de las vistas mas lidas de la ciudad.

Also nearby is the museum of Mamulengo, the puppets which is the first in Brazil and is another level. The mamulengo is part of the tradition of the Brazilian Northeast -especially of the state of Pernambuco-, including its carnivals. During the Olinda carnival, one of the most famous and spectacular in Brazil, the largest puppets come out, reaching up to four meters in height.
Además, cerca está el museo do Mamulengo, las marionetas el cual es el primero de todo Brasil y es otro nivel. El mamulengo forma parte de la tradición del Nordeste brasileño –en especial del estado de Pernambuco–, incluso de sus carnavales. Durante el carnaval de Olinda, uno de los más famosos y espectaculares de Brasil, salen los muñecos más grandes, que llegan a los cuatro metros de altura.
There is also the house of the Giant Bonecos used in the Olinda carnival, it differs from the other Olinda galleries especially because almost all the puppets here weigh between 15kg and 50 kg and are representations of notable local characters, including folk heroes.
También está la casa de los Bonecos Gigantes utilizados en el carnaval de Olinda, se diferencia de las otras galerías de Olinda especialmente porque casi todos los títeres aquí pesan entre 15kg y 50 kg y son representaciones de personajes locales notables, incluidos los héroes folclóricos.

With this new friend, I finished touring the town, we were together all day. The truth is that Olinda with its picturesque infrastructure and the warmth of its people makes this place unforgettable.
Con este nuevo amigo, termine de recorrer el pueblo, estuvimos juntos todo el día. La verdad es que Olinda con su pintoresca infraestructura y la calidez de su gente hace de este lugar un sitio inolvidable.
