Oslo - Royal Palace | Unique architecture and magnificent ceremony

Hello, friends! It is very easy to get close to the Royal Family in Oslo. In this post, I will tell about my experiences in Royal Palace. So let's start with the most important thing - the location of the Royal Palace in Oslo. It is located in the very center of the city on Karl Johans gate. The building is quite large and surrounded by a park (which I posted about in my previous ones) so let's start!

I was also interested in the history of the palace, so here's what I found out. Construction of the palace began in 1824 and lasted 5 years. In 1829, the palace began to function: from that time until now, official ceremonies, receptions and various events related to the Royal Family have been held.

In Oslo, opposite the Royal Palace, there is a monument dedicated to King Carl Johan. One of the symbols of Norwegian history and royalty, this monument is located near Carl Johan Square in the city center. From 1818 to 1844, Carl Johan ruled both Sweden and Norway as king. He was involved in such important historical events as the union of Sweden and Norway and the adoption of the new constitution of 1814. Residents and guests of the city enjoy visiting the monument to Carl Johan, which has become an important part of the architectural landscape of downtown Oslo.

We also had a great opportunity to watch the changing of the Royal Guard. The changing of the Royal Guard, a historic ceremony in Oslo, takes place in front of the Royal Palace in the heart of the city. This event is aimed at honoring the royal family.

Every day, the guard changes in front of the Royal Palace, regardless of the weather. The guard is made up of soldiers in traditional Norwegian clothing. In Oslo, this ritual has become a popular tourist attraction. Visitors can watch the ceremony, take pictures and appreciate the artistic benefits of the royal military ceremony as we did. We were very lucky that this ceremony started shortly after we arrived at the Royal Palace and we had the opportunity to watch it up close.

The changing of the guard ceremony was very impressive. Many people like us formed a line in front of the Royal Palace and enjoyed the ceremony.

The greatness and architectural elegance of the Royal Palace's facade in Oslo leave an unforgettable impression. As expected from palaces and historical buildings, the Royal Palace has a classic style. The pale stone used for the exterior of the palace gives it an atmosphere of aristocracy. The artistic character of the building is strengthened by the various elements and ornaments that decorate the facade. There is a balcony on the facade where members of the royal family could appear in front of the public on special occasions or holidays.

Also, right around the corner, you can see the very same Princess Park, which we also visited and shared with you in the last post. I highly recommend this to read if you didn't yet.
