After our stop at El Infiernillo we went straight to find a place to have lunch. It had already been several hours since our breakfast, and also I had taken something very light, so by that time my stomach would not stop roaring 😅. Our next destination was the town of Cafayate, in the Salta province. I only knew this place by name, so being there was a surprise since I arrived 💕.
Después de nuestra parada en El Infiernillo fuimos directo a buscar un lugar para almorzar. Ya habían pasado varias horas de nuestro desayuno, y además yo había tomado algo muy liviano, por lo que para esas horas mi estómago no paraba de rugir 😅. Nuestro siguiente destino era el pueblo de Cafayate, en la provincia de Salta. Yo solo conocía este lugar de nombre, así que estar ahí fue sorpresa desde que llegué 💕.
Having traveled so many kilometers by bus is tiring, but I think that when you are out for a walk you draw energy from anywhere to continue the journey. Around 1PM we already arrived in Cafayate to continue getting to know the province (and continue spending money on souvenirs 😅).
Haber viajado tantos kilómetros en micro es cansador, pero creo que cuando estas de paseo sacas energía de cualquier lado para continuar la travesía. Alrededor de la 1PM ya llegamos a Cafayate a seguir conociendo la provincia (y continuar gastando dinero en recuerdos 😅).
The town of Cafayate is small and has mountain views from almost every point. The first thing we did was stop at a general store. I'm not a big fan of buying things to give as gifts, so this didn't really interest me that much, I just wanted us to define which restaurant we were going to eat at 😅.
El pueblo de Cafayate es pequeño y tiene vista a la montaña desde casi cualquier punto. Lo primero que hicimos fue detenernos en una tienda de artículos variados. Yo no soy muy fan de comprar cosas para regalar, por lo que esto no me interesaba tanto en realidad, solo quería que definamos en qué restaurante íbamos a comer 😅.
My partner Irma and I found a restaurant a few blocks from where the bus left us, which had affordable prices and the menu offered just what we wanted: typical northern food.
Mi compañera Irma y yo encontramos un restaurante a pocas cuadras de donde nos dejó el micro, que tenía precios accesibles y el menú ofrecía justo lo que queríamos: comida típica del norte.
As a starter I chose to order a tamale. The truth is that I was not sure what this was but since I enjoy being surprised I said 'well, let's see what it is'. I found a pasta with corn and meat. I really didn't love it but I didn't dislike this dish either.
Como entrada elegí ordenar un tamal. La verdad que no estaba segura de lo que era esto pero como disfruto sorprenderme dije 'bueno, veamos que es'. Me encontré con una pasta con choclo y carne. Realmente no me encantó pero tampoco me disgustó este plato.

As a main course I ordered a lamb casserole. Guys, it was really hot there already, probably over 30 ° C, and I was eating a super hot and boiled stew. I was sweating, but I couldn't stop trying this dish. It was fine, the meat was strange to me, maybe because I was very used to beef, but I ate it anyway. It was a lot of meat so I didn't finish it all.
Como plato principal pedí una cazuela de cordero. Chicos, realmente ya hacía mucho calor allí, seguramente más de 30°C, y yo comiendo un guiso super hervido y caliente. Sudaba, pero no podía dejar de probar este plato. Estaba bien, la carne me resultó extraña, quizás por estar muy acostumbrada a la carne de vaca, pero igual lo comí. Era mucha carne, así que no lo terminé todo.
Finally, for dessert, I ordered a grape mousse. It resembled ice cream, but so much sweeter. It was delicious, but then I had to drink enough water to counteract the effect of so much sugar 😅. In general, lunch was good: at least I tried the rarest thing on the menu 💕.
Por último, como postre pedí una mousse de uvas. Se asemejaba a un helado, pero muchísimo más dulce. Era delicioso, pero luego tuve que tomar bastante agua para constrarrestar el efecto de tanta azúcar 😅. En general el almuerzo estuvo bien: por lo menos probé lo mas raro que ofrecían en el menú 💕.
After lunch we visit a craft fair. In this part of the country, the manufacture of ceramic and clay utensils is common, so you could see these elements everywhere and at super accessible prices. My sister freaked out when I told her about this: she loves those things 💕.
Después del almuerzo visitamos una feria de artesanías. En esta parte del país es común la fabricación de utensilios de cerámica y barro, por lo que podías ver estos elementos en todas partes y a precios super accesibles. Mi hermana se enloqueció cuando le comenté sobre esto: a ella le encantan esas cosas 💕.
True to the style of this journey of pure walking and no rest, after spending almost two hours in the town of Cafayate, we continued up the road to the winery area. It was a surprise for me to discover that wines are also produced in this area, I thought that this was limited only to the center of our country.
Fiel al estilo de este viaje de puro recorrer y nada de descanso, luego de estar casi dos horas en el pueblo de Cafayate, seguimos camino arriba hacia la zona de bodegas. Para mi fue una sorpresa descubrir que en esta zona también se producen vinos, pensé que esto estaba limitado solo al centro de nuestro país.
With this tour the visit and entrance to a winery called 'Secret Vessel' was included. This winery has the typical vineyard overlooking the mountains and all the atmosphere that reminds me of the movie 'Parent's trap' 😅.
Con este paseo estaba incluída la visita y entrada a una bodega llamada 'Vasija Secreta'. Esta bodega tiene el típico viñedo con vista a las montañas y todo el ambiente que me recuerda a la película 'Juego de gemelas' 😅.
Inside the winery, a girl was in charge of telling us about the entire wine-making process, from the reception of the grapes to the fermentation and packaging of the wine. As a Food Engineer, I love hearing all this kind of information so I was very attentive to the explanation of the guide.
Dentro de la bodega, una chica se encargó de contarnos todo el proceso de fabricación del vino, desde la recepción de la uva hasta la fermentación y envasado del vino. Como Ingeniera en alimentos, me encanta escuchar todo este tipo de información así que estaba muy atenta a la explicación de la guía.

What I like about wine (in addition to drinking a few glasses) is the magic that all its elaboration has. The passage through the wooden barrels manages to transform it into a drink with a lot of aromas and flavors that make each wine unique. The food industry and chemistry is great, that's why I chose this career 💕.
Lo que me gusta del vino (además de beber algunas copas) es la magia que tiene toda su elaboración. El pasaje por las barricas de madera logra transformarlo en una bebida con un montón de aromas y sabores que hacen único a cada vino. La industria de alimentos y la química es genial, por eso elegí esta carrera 💕.
At the end of this visit, there was a tasting of the wines produced in that winery, which were not few. Luckily we had a good lunch, otherwise it would have been difficult to cope with all that drink 😅.
Al final de esta visita, hubo una degustación de los vinos producidos en esa bodega, que no eran pocos. Por suerte habíamos almorzado bien, de lo contrario hubiese sido difícil hacerle frente a toda esa bebida 😅.
My partner Irma is a very happy woman: she really wanted to go for a walk and try everything they offered us, and wine was no exception, so we were the first in line for the tasting 🤣.
Mi compañera Irma es una mujer muy alegre: ella tenía muchas ganas de pasear y probar todo lo que nos ofrecían, y el vino no fue la excepción, por lo que fuimos las primeras en la fila para la degustación 🤣.

We spent a great afternoon eating and drinking wine in Cafayate. To all this, the second day of the trip had already passed and we had not yet arrived at the hotel. I always say that anyone who wants to rest should not come to these types of walks, because you get tired worse than at home 😅. But seeing and living each experience is absolutely worth it. Once we had a full stomach, we continued our journey calmly 💕.
Pasamos una gran tarde comiendo y bebiendo vino en Cafayate. A todo esto, ya había pasado el segundo día en viaje y aún no habíamos llegado al hotel. Siempre digo que el que quiera descansar no debe venir a este tipo de paseos, porque te cansas peor que en tu casa 😅. Pero ver y vivir cada experiencia vale absolutamente la pena. Una vez que tuvimos el estómago lleno, seguimos tranquilos viaje adelante 💕.
