After starting our trip from Buenos Aires to Córdoba at 5 AM, my father and I were finally able to reach the town of Capilla del Monte. In between we take our time to eat breakfast and resting, so we arrive around 2 PM. That day was beautiful and radiant, but we were so tired that the next day we were able to take our first walk and we went to the El Zapato Complex. Despite the fact that the clouds threatened to rain, luckily the weather was good to us ❤️.
Después de haber emprendido nuestro viaje desde Buenos Aires hasta Córdoba a las 5 AM, finalmente mi papá y yo pudimos llegar hasta el pueblo de Capilla del Monte. En el medio nos tomamos nuestro tiempo para desayunar y todo, por lo que llegamos alrededor de las 2 PM. Ese día estaba hermoso y radiante, pero estábamos tan cansados que recién al otro día pudimos hacer nuestro primer paseo y nos fuimos hasta el Complejo El Zapato. A pesar de que las nubes amenzaban con llover, por suerte el clima se portó bien con nosotros ❤️.
To get there we chose to go by plane and two buses: a trip with layovers always ends up being tiring, but I wanted for my dad to travel by plane for the first time so that's what we did. Once at the airport, we took a bus to the city center and then a long-distance bus that dropped us off in the center of Capilla del Monte in 3 more hours. This town is one of the most important within the area of the Sierras de Córdoba and that is why I chose it as my vacation destination. Also, my dad always vacations on the beach and it seemed like a good idea to go to the mountains this time ❤️.
Para llegar hasta allá elegimos ir en avión y dos micros: un viaje con escalas siempre termina siendo cansador, pero yo quería que mi papá viajara en avión por primera vez así que eso fue lo que hicimos. Una vez en el aeropuerto, tomamos un bus de línea hasta el centro de la ciudad y luego un micro de larga distancia que en 3 horas más nos dejó en el centro de Capilla del Monte. Este pueblo es uno de los más importantes dentro del área de las sierras de Córdoba y por eso lo elegí como destino de estas vacaciones. Además, mi papá siempre vacaciona en playas y me pareció buena idea ir a las montañas esta vez ❤️.
On our first day we just settled into our accommodation and then headed out for lunch. The weather that day was beautiful, but by 6 PM I was so tired that all I wanted was to take a nap. I was very sorry to miss out on our first day but I hadn't slept for about 35 hours so my body was on autopilot and I wasn't enjoying anything. We went back to the hotel and after sleeping for about 15 hours straight I was ready to go for a walk anywhere 😂.
En nuestro primer día solo nos acomodamos en nuestro alojamiento y luego salimos a almorzar. El clima ese día estaba hermoso, pero para las 6 PM yo ya estaba tan cansada que lo único que quería era tomar una siesta. Me daba mucha pena desaprovechar nuestro primer día pero yo llevaba como 35 horas sin dormir así que mi cuerpo estaba en piloto automático y no estaba disfrutando nada. Volvimos al hotel y después de dormir como 15 horas seguidas estuve lista para ir a pasear a donde sea 😂.
Unlike the day before, that morning it dawned completely cloudy and unstable, which at first bothered me a bit and made me wonder if we could go for a walk somewhere. Luckily my dad is quite adventurous in that sense and we decided that we would go out anyway, a little water was not going to be so terrible anyway. The walk we chose was a small hill 1.5 km from where we were, so that we have time to return in case a strong storm breaks out 😶.
A diferencia del día anterior, esa mañana amaneció completamente nublada e inestable, lo que al principio me molestó un poco y me hizo dudar de si podríamos salir a caminar a algún lado. Por suerte mi papá es bastante aventurero en ese sentido y decidimos que saldríamos igual, de todos modos un poco de agua tampoco iba a ser tan terrible. El paseo que elegimos fue un pequeño cerro a 1.5 km de donde estábamos, de forma que nos dé tiempo a volver en el caso de que se desatara una tormenta fuerte 😶.
You know, my dad is a mail delivery boy and his job basically consists of walking every day. And what do you come to do with me on your vacation? Keep walking. I had also warned him about this and he agreed, so I didn't feel so guilty either. After half an hour of leisurely walking and catching up on life, we arrived at the El Zapato complex. The first thing we saw was a large rock formation, similar to the one I had seen at Piedra del Águila in the province of Neuquén, so it seems that nature was doing the same thing for here.
Saben, mi papá es repartidor de correspondencia y su trabajo básicamente consiste en caminar todos los días. ¿Y que viene a hacer conmigo en sus vacaciones de descanso? Seguir caminando. Igualmente yo le había avisado de esto y estuvo de acuerdo, así que tampoco me sentí tan culpable. Después de media hora de caminar tranquilamente y ponernos al día sobre la vida, llegamos al complejo El Zapato. Lo primero que vimos fue una gran formación rocosa, parecida a la que yo había visto en Piedra del Águila en la provincia de Neuquén, por lo que parece que la naturaleza estuvo haciendo lo mismo por aquí.
Luckily for us, there were stairs to go up there, which made the job a bit easier. Once at the top, it was not difficult for us to find the famous shoe-shaped stone that gives this place its name. Nature and its occurrences 😅.
Para nuestra suerte, había escaleras para ascender hasta allá, lo que facilitó un poco el trabajo. Una vez arriba, no nos costó encontrar la famosa piedra con forma de zapato que le da el nombre a todo este lugar. La naturaleza y sus ocurrencias 😅.
From up there we could see beautiful panoramic views of the entire town of Capilla del Monte, as well as the mountains in their entirety. The province of Córdoba is the one chosen if you want to be between mountains and nature, which is why many tourists like us come here year after year. This mountain range is about 250 km long and several towns are located at its feet, so it is only necessary to choose one and enjoy it ❣️.
Desde allí arriba pudimos ver unas hermosas vistas panorámicas de todo el pueblo de Capilla del Monte, además de las sierras en toda su extensión. La provincia de Córdoba es la elegida si se desea estar entre montañas y naturaleza, por lo que año tras año muchos turistas como nosotros llegan hasta acá. Este cordón montañoso tiene unos 250 km y a sus pies se emplazan varios pueblos, por lo que solo es necesario elegir uno y disfrutar de él ❣️.
The good thing about the fact that the day was not completely sunny is that we were able to stay there for a long time without getting too hot. This landscape is absolutely beautiful, the photos never finish doing justice to reality and seeing it live and direct is a thousand times better. If you are in this area, getting to this place seems like a good option for a short walk and without so much difficulty: it is also a great setting to spend the morning or afternoon drinking some good "mates" ❣️.
Lo bueno de que el día no haya estado completamente soleado es que pudimos quedarnos allá un buen rato sin pasar mucho calor. Este paisaje es absolutamente hermoso, las fotos nunca terminan de hacerle justicia a la realidad y verlo en vivo y en directo es mil veces mejor. Si estan por esta zona, llegar hasta este lugar me parece una buena opción de paseo corto y sin tanta dificultad: además, es un gran escenario para pasar la mañana o tarde tomando unos buenos mates ❣️.
Exploring this small summit a little more, we saw that from there we could see the El Cajón Dam, which we had also heard about. It is common that in several of these provinces artificial reservoirs are generated to retain water and supply the populations. By the way, that promotes tourism because they can be used as spas and recreational sectors of navigation ❣️.
Explorando un poco más esta pequeña cumbre, vimos que desde ahí se veía el Dique El Cajón, del cual también habíamos escuchado hablar. Es común que en varias de estas provincias se generen embalses artificiales para retener el agua y abastecer a las poblaciones. De paso, eso fomenta el turismo porque ellos pueden usarse como balnearios y sectores recreativos de navegación ❣️.
Finally, we also find this somewhat particular rock formation. My dad said it looked like a bear or something, and it might even be more attractive than the shoe-shaped stone itself. I also found it pretty, but I don't know if it was enough to displace the big shoe and all its fame. What do you think? 😃
Por último, también nos encontramos con esta formación rocosa algo particular. Mi papá dijo que se parecía a un oso o algo así, y que incluso podría ser más atractivo que la propia piedra con forma del zapato. También me pareció linda, pero no sé si tanto como para desplazar al gran zapato y toda su fama. ¿Ustedes que piensan? 😃
I was happy that we came out the same despite the cloudy and threatening sky because in the end it only rained for 15 minutes during the morning. The rest of the day was even a bit cool to walk around everywhere. For our first walk of the trip, going to the El Zapato complex was quite good and served to prepare us for all the walks we had in mind. And also, he gave us some incredible postcards from all over Capilla del Monte. Once again, proud of the beautiful country we have ❤️.
Me alegró que hayamos salido igual a pesar de ese cielo nublado y amenazante porque al final solo llovío 15 minutos durante la mañana. El resto del día estuvo incluso un poco fresco como para andar paseando por todos lados. Para ser nuestro primer paseo del viaje, ir hasta el complejo El Zapato estuvo bastante bien y sirvió para prepararnos para todas las caminatas que teníamos en mente. Y además, nos regaló unas postales increíbles de todo Capilla del Monte. Una vez más, orgullosa del hermoso país que tenemos ❤️.
