Wednesday Walk

Hello, Hive!

Down the road from the house with tree roses is the home of a friend which I'll feature today. It's Wednesday Walk of @tattoodjay and what an appropriate time to do it!.

Planted around the property are Iceberg Floribunda White Rose Bushes. It is eye-catching as it compliments the house!

This Victorian Italianate cottage, with a unique rounded cornice and curved brackets, was built in 1882 by Usual Shellhammer for William H. Lawson. The house was subsequently sold to JF Garret and his family occupied it from 1886 to 1937.

Mr. Garrett came West as an orphan in 1878. After making a big strike on the Klamath River as a miner, he bought and sold grain ad fruit. This home was built when he started a variety store business in town.

The current owner is Geraldine Colon, a sweet lady. She told me that Mr, Garrett later became a partner on the English firm of Bralfour and Guthrie, a company that subdivided much of the Arbuckekle area. She also said the Mr. Garretts stepsons Bryon and Roy Hillhouse served as City Assessor and Chief of Police of our town!

Isn't it so pretty?

I used Pinmapple to pin this post to the world map using a code generated at Pinmapple to mark the place where I traveled and took these photos.

It is so cool! You should try it!
