I have always had a word for the new year. I always have simple terms for my life. I wanted to express my humble thoughts and more heartfelt words for the New Year as far as I can remember.

As I made a list for my new year’s resolution and covenant to myself for the entire year, I told myself, "I will have a word by then."

I don’t, though.

I think it sounds fantastic. I knew I would come up with a word and words from the heart by that time, even as I was making a list. However, I do not.

All of a sudden, I held my breath for the majority of the days last year while yearning for better days. And at the end of the year, I began making adjustments, caring for myself, loving myself more, and rediscovering who I was as I sought more for my purpose in life.

Right now, speaking feels nearly excessive to me. Of course, I have wishes. I am an idealist. I am an optimist. I prefer, though, to take each day as it comes and to be and be present as I watch it happen simply. Nothing imposing or high. Just day by day, I am getting happier as I go.

Having a term right now feels almost redundant to me. I do, of course, have wishes and aspirations. I have a dream. But I prefer to accept each day as it comes simply and be in the moment.

Then watch it develop. Nothing grand or pretentious. Simply taking each day as it comes and finding joy. It seems nice to me.

Perhaps I had never wished for a perfect life. I have never hoped for the ideal life because, as I grew up, I saw the ups and downs of life.

Life, in so many ways, has let me see both successes and downfalls, severe depression and extreme euphoria, triumphs and setbacks, victories and losses, and wealth.

As the days went on, I realized that these things had driven me to work hard and go above and beyond the call of duty. I had accomplished a lot and deserved better than I had at the time. It made me strive hard and push beyond the standards as I tread more days ahead and earn more than I have today.

Despite the extreme agony I experienced in 2022; still, the Almighty has blessed me so well. Meaningful experiences, rich learning, much appreciation, and more profound gratitude for what I have been given.

I have no regrets about it all, for I firmly believe that I am meant to be where I am now. Indeed, His ways and plans for my life through the path I am taking are always perfect and the best.

Today and every single day, I am hoping and praying for continued provisions and graces for 2023 and beyond. I put all my faith in the One who is still putting the best parts of my life together. Trusting it all to the Almighty one who has not yet done making up together the incredible pieces of my existence through twists and turns.

Similar to a blank page in a book, the New Year is waiting for me to fill it in with all the emotions and feelings of life. I have to believe that I have the chance to create a narrative about my own humble life.

And now, I am holding my breath and hoping for better days ahead. Best wishes for a happy new year as the year gets started.

Happy New Year to everyone! Bring it on in 2023!
