Late-Night Adventures in Bugis: Shopping, Street Art, and Hidden Gems
I just got back from my photo walk around the Bugis area. I never thought that late-night shopping there could be this fun, and I really enjoyed it. The weather was perfect, which definitely added to the great experience I had.
There’s so much to do in Bugis, and that’s why it’s one of the top shopping spots in the city. The vibe is simply amazing and very lively—no wonder Gen Z loves hanging out there. The neon lights from the shopping stalls give off such an exciting energy, and the affordable prices are another reason why people of all ages flock there to shop. You can find thrift shops selling items ranging from SGD 5 to SGD 20, which is considered a steal these days!
As usual, I also took this chance to do a photo walk and recorded a few short clips for my TikTok and YouTube Shorts. Since I already made the effort to go there, I figured I might as well create content for my mainstream social pages. Of course, I also took photos for my Hive blog to share with the community.
One of the reasons I really enjoyed tonight’s shopping trip was the cool breeze. I barely broke a sweat during the walk, which encouraged me to keep walking and burn some extra calories too!
The highlight of my photo walk was visiting the alley beside Bugis+, which I now think of as a mini Kampong Glam in the area. It’s evolving into an art alley where people can express their creativity and share their passions about current trends.
By the way, I noticed a lot of posters of famous personalities from the 80s displayed on one side of the alley. It seems that Gen Z is idolizing these icons and even bringing back the fashion trends from that era—how cool is that? In a world dominated by K-pop and modern pop, seeing the classics making a comeback is really exciting!

Bugis truly never fails to surprise me with its energy, creativity, and unique shopping experience.
