Today, I had one of those unique Hive experiences that reminded me why I continue enjoying this platform beyond the rewards, tokens, and everything related to crypto.
Lately, I’ve been spending quite a lot of time hanging around the HiveGrove campfire. Aside from growing my virtual trees and learning more about the game, I’ve also been chatting with other HiveGrove players whenever I get the opportunity.
Usually, our conversations are about Hive, nature, HiveGrove mechanics, our trees, and random things happening around the platform. It has become one of those relaxing places where I can simply hang out and talk with fellow Hive users.
But today, something unexpected happened.
Another player suddenly said:
“Your username is ‘curamax,’ and my favorite is ‘kurama’ from the anime Yu Yu Hakusho.”
Bingo! 😂
I was honestly astounded that someone actually figured out the origin of my Hive username.
And yes, she was right!
Kurama from Yu Yu Hakusho is actually my favorite anime character of all time. I’ve always liked how calm, intelligent, and strategic he is during battles. He doesn’t usually rely on brute strength. Instead, he studies the situation, understands his opponent, and comes up with some of the most creative strategies in the series.
My Hive username, “curamax,” is actually a little play on the name Kurama, inspired by two characters I really like: Kurama from Naruto and Youko Kurama from Yu Yu Hakusho. 🦊
So imagine my surprise when someone inside HiveGrove suddenly recognized that connection. LOL!
What makes it even more interesting is that Youko Kurama is closely connected with plants and nature. He uses plants as weapons during battles, turning something as simple as a seed, flower, or vine into something incredibly powerful.
Meanwhile, here I am inside HiveGrove...
Growing virtual trees. 😂🌳
Of course, my situation is completely different from fighting monsters using deadly plants, but somehow I find the connection funny and strangely fitting. Maybe my Hive username finally found the perfect game to hang around in. Haha!
But beyond the anime reference, this little conversation made me think again about what makes Hive special.
Hive may technically be a blockchain and a cryptocurrency project, but once you start actively participating in its social platforms, games, communities, Snaps, Waves, and now experiences like HiveGrove, the blockchain side sometimes fades into the background.
What you begin to notice more are the people.
We talk about our hobbies. We share stories about our lives. We discuss games, movies, anime, food, nature, work, crypto, and practically anything that comes to mind.
And sometimes, something as simple as recognizing the origin of another person’s username can suddenly turn into a fun conversation.
That personal interaction is something I think Hive should continue developing.
For many years, Web3 has been associated with anonymous usernames, wallets, charts, trading, complicated technology, and what I jokingly call the “geek stuff.” There’s nothing wrong with that because those things are important parts of crypto.
However, Hive is slowly showing another side of blockchain technology.
It can also be social.
We can remain somewhat anonymous while still allowing our personalities, interests, humor, and experiences to become part of our identity within the community.
That’s why I believe Hive still has huge potential as a social media platform. The blockchain may provide ownership and rewards, but the people provide the experience.
Today’s HiveGrove campfire conversation was only a small moment, but these small moments are exactly what make a community feel alive.
I logged into HiveGrove expecting to grow some virtual trees.
Instead, I found another Kurama fan.
Not bad for a day in Hive. 😂🌳🦊
Hive on!
