Riptide Operation - Week 10: Decompression [Let's Play Games #23]

The Week 10 of Riptide Operation is called Decompression so what we should be expecting from CS:GO is a little bit more relaxing times while earning the 8 stars available as rewards.

...theoretically.

Because practically, the missions will require some effort from you to complete them if you are not used to playing with AUG or have the Nuke map on the list with the most played maps during your gaming sessions.

However, completing all the missions available in Week 10: Decompression will take you to a total of 64 stars earned which will help you get the gold medal for the operation, yay!

Just a few more weeks left before this is coming to an end. ⏳

While some players assumed that Week 10: Decompression came with some of the easiest missions since the Operation Riptide was released, for me it was a little bit different because when it comes to picking a weapon with a scope I always go for the AWP and I'm sort of bad using a different gun, as well as having Nuke on the blacklist because I literally lose all the matches when I play this map, lol.

Anyway, let's leave excuses on the side and take a look at the full list of tasks brought by the Week 10: Decompression and how to earn all 8 stars available as rewards:

  1. Competitive - Short Match - Nuke: where you have to win an entire match OR get 21 winning rounds from separate matches [★★★]
  2. Guardian - Sirocco - High Pressure: being needed to kill 20 bots with AUG weapon [★★]
  3. Deathmatch - Overpass - Nitrogen Narcosis: where you are required to get 10 kills from different radar locations [★]
  4. Casual - Group Delta - Barotrauma: you have to get 10 headshot kills in a single match or a total of 20 collected from more matches played [★★]

While in the last 2 or 3 weeks we didn't have any deathmatch missions, I sort of missed them so I decided to start completing this week's tasks by beginning with the 3rd one from the list.

Getting kills in deathmatch matches is not an impossible thing since as soon as you die you are being respawned in a different place on the map and it's unbearable not to get a kill sooner or later, but the interesting part on this one is that you are going to be forced to get 10 kills on different radar locations and especially on the Overpass map.

Overpass was always a map that you can either love or hate playing. There is no in-between relationship you can have with this one.

I have to say that it usually doesn't appear on my list with the maps that I'm playing with my friends, but I do like playing it when I have the occasion to do so because it's a relatively small map and that makes it easy to follow where your enemies might come out from if you know the positions on the map.

Playing this mission as the first one out of the four available is both a good warmup and a nice way to practice your aim before things are getting more serious. The bad part is that you have to follow a strict order to complete this, starting from the playground area and ending with a kill in the restrooms.

I personally completed this mission after playing two matches, but if you are impatient spawning in the requested place or you are not able to reach it because you get shot, you can always consider setting up a kill bind to make things easier.

The list of the requested places where you have to get a kill from can be seen on the picture from above or on the following paragraph:

  • Get a kill at Playground;
  • Get a kill at Upper Park;
  • Get a kill at Bombsite A;
  • Get a kill at Sniper's Nest;
  • Get a kill at Bombsite B;
  • Get a kill at T Start;
  • Get a kill in Tunnels;
  • Get a kill at Playground (again!);
  • Get a kill at Fountain;
  • Get a kill at Restroom.

The next mission I completed was Casual – Group Delta – Barotrauma where you are required to either score 20 headshot kills from more matches played OR 10 headshots kills from a single match. It really depends on your skills and how easy you usually manage to get a headshot when killing an enemy.

To my surprise, I managed to complete this in a single match, but all you need to be able to complete it, is a little more focus than usual and to always remember to keep your crosshair at head height and play safe angles. You can also consider camping and wait for the enemies to come over.

The image from ahead is from a previous competitive match to show the headshots but the Delta Group includes the following maps: Mirage, Inferno, Overpass, Nuke, Train, and Cache. These are usual maps that most likely everyone heard about so don’t worry about ending up on any unfamiliar Riptide maps.

Now that we had enough chances of warming up before joining some serious missions, it's time to take care of the Guardian - Sirocco – High Pressure task where as you might already got used, you need a teammate and get together 20 kills on bots with a specific gun.

This time, the weapon we had to use was an AUG while if we were using pistols or any other gun the kills didn't count.

It's better to play the first one or two rounds with pistols until you save enough money to purchase an AUG and then stay hidden and wait for the bots to come over and get shot. There are going to be two heavily-armoured targets that are harder to be killed but if you are using Zeus pistol you will kill it from one shot as it's an electric gun.

Last but not least, the time completing the Competitive – Short Match – Nuke mission arrived, so all we could do is to pray for a good team to play with, lol.

However, after 2 or 3 matches played we realized that it's not one of our luckiest days as our teammates weren't the best, so we kind of lost the hope of winning an entire match to complete the task faster but actually play more matches and collect 2-3 rounds from each until we scored the magic number of 21 rounds won on separate matches. Lucky us we didn't get any derank, phew! 😅
