Finally, Negril restaurants are starting to open up again! I know, I know... quarantine shmarantine but Jamaica has been listed as one of the countries to defeat the Rona. Statistically speaking, 500/3m —you’re more likely to win a lottery than catch COVID-19 here:

As long as I can remember, Sweet Spice has been the place for good old dinner style soul-food in Negril. The restaurant is like a time capsule, unlike modern venues that are made to look traditional; Sweet Spice is the real deal.

I’ve been here countless times and the food is always great. Reminds me of the way my grandmother used to make it. I always go for the oxtail or conch steak. Today I had the conch because it’s illegal to catch locally right now and they always have reserves.

The conch steak is basically a huge conch, panfried and battered in a coconut milk and spices. It costs just about USD $10 and tastes like a million bucks.

Sweet Spice is just 5mins away from Negril Town Centre (and Negril Beach). I actually didn’t plan to do a review this evening, guess it’s been so long 😞. Next time I stop by I’ll be sure to get a picture of the menus.

Thanks for reading!

Peace ✌🏽
