A tradition in each region has a unique way of being grateful for everything that happens in their respective lives.

My older sister moved to her husband's village 10 years ago. There was something unique when I first set foot in the hometown my sister lives in now. One of them is the khenduri blang tradition.

Khanduri blang is a tasyukran event in the form of slaughtering livestock in the form of chickens in the area where the community grows crops. They held this event right at the location where the local community's rice fields will be cultivated later. So, this tradition itself is carried out right before rice planting begins and is always carried out regularly during that season.

The purpose of this khenduri is for them to celebrate to give thanks and pray to God so that when they plant rice they will get abundant results and of course blessings. This event was attended by all people who own land throughout the rice field area. They are required to cook chicken soup directly at that place and enjoy it there.

After 10 years my older sister got married and lived in this village, I came to this khenduri blang event for the first time. I was very surprised that the event was very busy and attended by mothers and even men and children. Everyone was very enthusiastic about doing this activity. So, the event was held on an empty plot of land in the form of an old cemetery that was no longer used.

They believe that this place is a very blessed place to ask God for prayers. I am very happy here, the place is very cool with large expanses of trees. According to my sister's story, they have been there for decades and have never been cut down until now. Looking very sturdy and dashing, my nephew was playing very happily waiting for the event to start.

When the event started the ladies started lining up their wooden kitchens with frying pans that from had brought from home. At that time, people started slaughtering chickens directly in the rice fields. They clean and prepare the chicken for cooking.

After these preparations, my old sister mixed the seosening with the chicken that had been prepared at home. He even prepared coconut milk and spices in the form of curry leaves, bay leaves and lime leaves.

Everything was put together in a cooking pan, he asked me to help start the fire. Ahhh it turns out the biggest obstacle at this event is smoke. I took glasses so that my eyes wouldn't directly hit the smoke but it was in vain, the result was the same. The smoke made my eyes groan, ahh, there's no need to worry about that. I'm afraid my sister's cooking won't cook without my help. Well, this is because she has a baby and she has to carry it.

I waited for the chicken stock to boil and started adding the thick coconut milk that from brought from home. Then reset the large bowl, my sister advised me not to stir this process when adding the sauce. I followed him and started taking photos of the surrounding area.

While the chicken curry was cooking, the other men in the community started reading the Koran at that location.

A row of pans with the same type of chicken sauce but different spices will definitely be very delicious. This was a very pleasant first experience, a few moments after the sauce started to cook we enjoyed it together.

Ahhh, at the last moment I forgot to take a photo of the atmosphere while we were enjoying it, so I was so engrossed in enjoying the delicious chicken soup with white rice that I wrapped in banana leaves.

Well, you need to know that every time the community cooks, we have to give the packaged rice and chicken that we have cooked to the people who have prayed earlier.

It was a very valuable experience, it turned out that the food at this event was really different from what I usually eat at home. Even enjoying it this way seems more delicious!.
