Hello Foodies and Hivers!

It´s been a while since I last posted here in the community. Have been busy all the time since we arrived here in Andalusia last October 2021. I hope all are well and have had a good time celebrating Christmas and New Year.

Today, I am sharing with you this bunch of fingerfoods that can be prepared so easily and quickly. These scrumptious canapés do not only look good, they taste delish, too! Making these last New Year´s eve was fun, it´s like you are just playing with the ingredents. I used French bread (Baguette), cut it lengthwise and cut once more into squares or at least each piece is of the same size to make a uniform look. I made the egg spread the night before and placed it in the refrigerator.

There is no secret of making these....the only thing is that the ingredients have to be prepared beforehand. I have cooked the eggs for the Egg Spread using my own recipe below:

Egg Spread

Ingredients:
4 hard boiled eggs (shell discarded)
1 medium onion, finely minced
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 tablespoon Philadelphia Cream
salt & pepper

How To prepare:

  1. Place the eggs in a mixing bowl, press them until fine in consistency. add the minced onion and the mayonnaise. Mix properly.
  2. Add the cream and mix again until the ingredients are well blended. Spice the spread with salt and pepper according to your taste. Place in thre Refrigerator until needed.

The Toppings I used for these Fingerfoods/Canapés

Actually, in many of my preparations, the rule of the thumb is , add anything you like for as long as they are solid: I have added as toppings the following ingredients below:

Ingredients
Egg Spread
2 French bread/Baguette, cut lengthwise then cut into squares
Blutwurst (sausage made of pork blood, Austrian especialty)
Liver Spread (German Liver Spread)
Jamon Seranno (Spanish Salted ham)
Jamon Cocido (Spanish precooked ham)
Jellied Pork ham we call Sulz
sliced tomatoes
onion rings
green bell pepper
Emmentaler sliced cheese
Lettuce strips
pineapple slices
apple slices
mayonnaise
sweet mustard called Kremser

How I prepared them:

  1. Prepare a serving tray for the finished bread. Add your own touch to your canape, any ingredients of your own would do.
  2. In every slice, add the egg spread to cover the bread...this will prevent the first slice of ham to slip on the side.
  3. Add layer by layer all other goodies, everytime you add a ham or veggies, put a small amount of either the mustard or mayonnaise so the layers wo´n´t collapse or slip away from the bread... The mayonnaise/mustard will hold other goodies together, so put only enough for other ingredinetsd to stick together.
  4. Arrange the canapés on a serving tray. And voilöa! they are ready to be served!

So I hope that this post will give you an idea on what to serve for your next party. So easy to make that even the kids will enjoy making their own fingerfood.
