I absolutely love Wontons, so much so that I get cravings regularly for a good bowl of Wonton soup. Sadly here in Gibraltar, I am yet to find somewhere with a decent dish...
So taking matters into my own hands, I sourced a small Asian supermarket in Spain filled with very exciting ingredients. I can't wait to go back.
Presenting..... Beef & Ginger Homemade Wontons in Chilli Oil
Ingredients:
1x pack of wonton wraps
200g of minced beef
1 tbsp grated ginger
2 tsp light soy sauce
1/4 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp salt
1 egg white
3 shallots
2 tbsp olive oil
Sauce:
1 tbsp grated garlic
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp Chinese black vinegar
1/2 tsp honey
1 tbsp spicy sesame oil
1 tbsp boiled water
1/2 tsp sesame seeds
2 tbsp chilli oil
-I started by mixing the beef, ginger, soy sauce, pepper, salt, egg white, shallots and oil into a bowl.
-Then filled the wontons with a small amount of meat and folded the wonton wraps by wetting all edges with water in forming a rectangle, dabbing one corner with water and sealing tight.
-Boiled for 3 minutes
-Mixed the sauce together
-Placed the wontons in a bowl and added the sauce on top with a garnish of onions.
And VOILA!
These are so tasty, next time I will make more in one batch!!
