Introducing "Buridibod" - A Favorite Vegetable Dish of Ilocanos from the Philippines

Greetings Foodies Bee Hive!

It has been half a month since my last post in the community. Today, I am going to share with you a dish that is very popular in the northern part of our country, the Philippines. The northern part of our country is commonly called "Ilocandia". It is called Ilocandia because the majority of the people living in the north are Ilocanos.

Ilocanos are known to have a cuisine that is mostly made of vegetables. Ilocanos are also known for their use of fish sauce in their recipes. The dish that I am going to introduce to you today is called "Buridibod", it is a vegetable dish with fish sauce.

Buridibod's main ingredient is the sweet potato, it can be combined with moringa leaves and moringa fruit, birch flower (Chinese spinach), and string beans. Fried fish is usually added to make the soup tastier.

Ingredients

  • Sweet potatoes
  • Moringa leaves
  • String beans (or moringa fruit)
  • Onion
  • Fried fish
  • Fish sauce
  • Salt to taste

Preparation

Sweet potatoes

Onion

Moringa leaves

String beans

Fried fish

Cooking

Put the fried fish on a casserole, add water (submerging fried fish) then let it boil

When it starts to boil add the fish sauce and onions

When the sweet potatoes are about to be cooked add string beans

When the string beans are about to be cooked add moringa leaves then let it boil until the moringa leaves are cooked
