#threephotothursday

Another emerging ikhowe. We thought it would get bigger. It didn't, and yesterday morning, had signs that other mushroom lovers had nibbled at it. I picked it and it's in the fridge awaiting its fate.

Yesterday was really quite refreshing: it was kinda normal. And the weather was, well, to end the day, fresh. During the course of Wednesday, we had two drops of rain. In our water scarce area, it has

This is how most of my days begin. Gandalf cannot get close enough for his ritual morning greeting. Some mornings, it's very endearing. Others, well, not so much. Especially in warmer weather and I don't

Yesterday's sunrise silence was shattered yesterday. Constant traffic and noise. My office overlooks this corner and short of relocating it to the lounge, I have to deal with it. The couch is my weekend

Morning. Suddenly I've 6 duck eggs, if you're interested. I'm going to the village tomorrow morning, so could deliver to you then, if you're interested. Enjoy your day and stay warm. That, was farmer P

I spent yesterday mostly in the kitchen. Koeksisters were first up and they take most of the day. Then it was cauliflower and leek soup which canned in jars for Saturday's market and June 18th. Sunday's

The budding aloes tell me that winter's just about here. They're in full bloom when we're at our coldest. They and their colours are one of the few good things about winter. With a new crop of Swiss chard

It's a brave creature that comes between me and that first morning tea. Gandalf doesn't give a damn. He cannot get close enough. No, it's not mist, it's smoke. Smelly smoke. Don't know who was responsible

I am not quite sure how this three photo Thursday thing began. I think it was one of my coping strategies in lockdown. Some weeks, I struggle. Yesterday was not one of those: even though I was literally

Yes, I know it's Saturday, and I'm writing about Thursday, but it's been one of those patches. I decided that this post should give way to #HivePUD and because this month is #HiveBloPoMo, I'd ... ahem

Last night's supper was both summery and somewhat autumnal. The latter because, for the first time in yonks, I made more than salad: a quick frittata. With seasonal ingredients. The summery bit was the

As has become recent practice, I break my own rules. This is actually a six photo post with that one (and the kitchen one coming up) taken on Sunday. The job began on Sunday and I finished it last night

Yesterday was another busy one but The Sandbag House is beginning to right itself again. After refreshing the photos for the Little Room, I thought I'd "do" the bsthroom, too. So, of course,

Yesterday was a busy but good day. It began under the shower and under the blue sky. This year, I have probably used it more often than in any season. Although The Husband uses it daily, summer and winter,

It's not blurred. It's a still fluffy martin fledgling puffed up against the summer morning chill who helped me start my day. It was a long one that began in the kitchen with koeksisters and moved into

A valley of clouds at dusk is the view that greeted me as I closed up for the evening at the end of an interesting day, thinking that the week had flown. This has a lot to do with why. Guests in the

I have been playing with flavours. Again. And leftovers. Some people say I am the queen (or words to that effect) of leftovers. This time it was green beans. They always work well with cumin and because

Last night saw the launch of SY Tchao's Face(T)s, an exhibition of photo portraits. Of the fabulous people and faces that are McGregor. I gave you advance warning, the other day. Face(T)s is the exhibition

Now that it's salad season, I take an evening sally into the garden. Last evening, in the cold wind, among the midges and when I was picking parsley and thyme I snapped away at these beauties. Among the

Again, it's all about garden loot. Well mostly. Last night's frittata supper with the sweetest mangetout came from a market mate's cabbage patch. A barter: he must still choose what. He has a penchant
