This little guy seemed content to spend the afternoon resting on the sunflower blossom in my friend's garden. Guess busy bees end up being tired bees.

This fat female was busy keeping her pincers clean and ready to grab any careless insects that might wander to closely. Hopefully she'll hang around my small garden for awhile.

It must be tough for a bright green mantis to remain camouflaged among the grays and browns of central Arizona but this one seems to have found a good spot. Have to say that mantids are one of my favorite
