Over the weekend it was raining heavily in our town. In this season the hill station gets extremely crowded, specially the main town area and some of the tourist spots. There is a dam called Bushi Dam where during monsoon there is a nice water fall and people go to this place and under the water falls for fun. But there are times when the weather gets extremely rough with heavy rains and winds and during such times it is risky.
There was a family who must have tried to be more adventurous and they went further inside and suddenly got stuck up in the heavy water flow from the hills above. There were 5 of them a lady and her 4 children. For a long time they were all holding up and people from outside were just watching them, the water flow was so heavy that no one could do anything or dare to go inside and eventually they all got flowed up in the water. It was a sad scene to watch. They were screaming but no one could help them. People around just watched them getting sucked up in the flow.
People go crazy during this season in our town, and do stupid things not even caring for their lives and in this case risking children was way beyond too much of an adventure. The children were 4, 8, 9 and 13years, such a sad thing. They must have wanted to go inside the water fall in excitement but the mother had to be sensible to not do such a foolish thing. Even when the situation just started getting bad they did not move out and kept waiting inside. I was getting goose bumps watching the video. I was hoping that someone would do something and save them but the flow was so hard that I am sure no one wants to take a chance.
Today everyone is heavily influenced by social media and looking at other people's adventure everyone wants to try doing something unique not realizing that the thrill can be killing also. One thing we need to understand that nature does not see anything, it just hits very hard and one must not go against the flow of nature. These types of incidents make us remind that we are not stronger then the force of nature.
May their soul RIP, a very shocking incident to even hear. The video is going viral and it's a lesson for everyone to not take unnecessary risk just for taking photographs and making reels, which is the craze these days.
