NEPHKET.

Good morning, fellow summoners. This is a full deep-dive report and review of Nephket, the card that has claimed my MVP crown for the third consecutive time in Modern Ranked.

I have been grinding since November 2025 in modern ranked, and across seasons she has been the most consistent, game-changing unit in my entire collection. She doesn’t just participate in wins—she single-handedly manufactures them.

If you have scrolled past her in the card browser or dismissed her because of mana cost or rental price, this is your invitation to look again. Watch the replays. Study the synergy. Then decide for yourself.

Quick Identity Card.
Rarity & Edition: Legendary Promo (Hall of Legends / Rebellion promo)
Elements: Dual — Life and Water
Mana Cost: 7
Attack Types: Dual — Ranged + Melee
Key Identity: Backline assassin with built-in setup and payoff

She is one of the rare true dual-attack, dual-element monsters. That alone makes her flexible in both Life and Water lineups (and Dragon when available). She doesn’t need a specific summoner to function; she elevates almost any deck that can field her.

The Kit That Makes Her LethalNephket’s power comes from how perfectly her abilities stack on top of each other:

  • Sneak: She always targets the last monster on the enemy team (or second-to-last if the last has Camouflage). She bypasses the front line completely.

  • Stun (50% chance on hit): Successful attacks can skip the target’s next turn entirely. Abilities that trigger on that monster’s turn are also shut down.

  • Knock Out: Double damage against any stunned target.

  • Divine Shield: The first time she takes damage, it is completely ignored. Critical for a fragile unit.

  • Piercing: Excess melee or ranged damage after armor is applied goes straight to health.

How the combo actually plays out in a round (this is the magic):
Ranged attack fires first (the “setup jab”). If it lands and procs Stun, the follow-up melee attack hits a stunned target and triggers Knock Out for double damage. Piercing ensures armor doesn’t fully protect the backline. Divine Shield gives her one free “oops” against retaliatory or Opportunity hits. The result is a unit that can neutralize a key threat and delete it in the same exchange.
Even at lower levels the core (Sneak + Stun) is already online. Higher levels simply increase the melee payload and unlock the full payoff abilities.

Why She Keeps Being My MVP.
Consistency. In a game full of high-variance rulesets and mana swings, Nephket delivers reliable impact. She has repeatedly turned losing positions into wins by:

  • Removing a high-value backline threat before it acts
  • Creating tempo by skipping enemy turns
  • Balancing lopsided matchups (e.g, 6-vs-5) through pure disruption + damage

She is not a tank. She is not a support. She is a precision instrument. Low health and zero base armor mean she must be protected or positioned carefully, but Divine Shield + Sneak positioning mitigate a huge amount of that risk. When the board is chaotic, she is the one who decides which enemy monsters get to play the game.

I have featured her across elements for seasons now. The synergy she brings is real, and the number of times she has carried games that “should” have been losses is no longer surprising—it’s expected.

Battle Proof (Watch These).
Here are a few recent examples. Look for the Sneak targeting, the Stun procs, and the Knock Out follow-ups:

These are just a sample. The pattern repeats.

Ruleset Strengths & Weaknesses (Practical Notes).
She shines in:

  • Heavy Hitters (Stun + Knock Out becomes even more punishing)
  • Armored Up / Up Close & Personal (Piercing value)
  • Holy Protection (multiple attacks help chew through shields)
  • Going the Distance / Close Range (dual attack types give options)
  • Unprotected (no armor to lose, pure damage)

She struggles or is restricted in:

  • Return Fire / Thorns (fragile + ranged/melee vulnerability)
  • Fog of War (Sneak disabled for melee)
  • Little League, Lost Legendaries, Rise of the Commons, Keep Your Distance, Broken Arrows, Even Stevens, Wands Out (ineligible or heavily restricted)

Know the ruleset, protect her properly, and she delivers.

Market Reality & Ownership
Price-wise (these numbers move up and down):

  • A fully maxed regular foil Nephket has sometimes cost around $129.

  • A fully maxed gold foil version sits around $175.

Just one single copy (not maxed) is cheaper and the price changes often.
Buying her outright is expensive. Renting her (borrowing her for a season or a short time by paying with the game’s currency called DEC) is also not cheap.

My personal take.
I don’t own her permanently. Instead, I rent her at the start of every new season. I have never regretted the money I have spent renting her, because the ranking points and actual wins she helps me get more than pay for the rental cost.

Bottom line for anyone considering her:
If you can rent her for even one full season, it’s worth trying. You’ll quickly see how strong she is and whether she fits your playstyle. You don’t have to buy her forever to test her out.

Final Call to the Community
Nephket is not the flashiest card in the game, and she is not the easiest to justify on pure cost. But for pure consistency, dual-element flexibility, and the ability to flip battles through disruption + damage, she stands alone in my experience.
I urge fellow warriors—especially those grinding Modern Ranked—to give her at least one full season. Slot her in Life, Water, or mixed lineups. Watch how the Sneak + Stun + Knock Out engine changes your win rate and your approach to backline threats. Then come back and tell me if she doesn’t earn a permanent spot in your consideration.
She has been my MVP three times running for a reason. The battlefield doesn’t lie.
See you in the arena.
