I have thought long and hard about doing this and have come to a decision that I have to help. I have known the lady in question for a number of years and have tried to help to the best of my ability. I would ask that who ever reads this please appreciate that this is a very delicate issue which has caused and is causing a lot of pain. Over ten years ago Mrs. (Anonymous) became involved with a man who for the best part of a decade totally dominated her controlling all aspects of her life. She had two children by him. She was not allowed to work under threat of becoming destitute without her children. Every day was a barrage of threats and name calling. Listening devices were placed to monitor her and her freedom was limited. He subjected her to a number of acts, conceptual on her part through intimidation and fear. A couple of years ago she gained the courage to fight back resulting in her then husband calling the police on her. She informed the officers of the situation but was told that for all intensive purposes if she had not been inflicted with physical abuse there was nothing she could do. The law did not cater for emotional abuse. To make a long story short after many years and much emotional pain she managed to free herself from this tyrant, finally divorcing him this year. He left her of course, with a bundle of debts amounted in her name over the years and pays the minimum the law foresees for the children. He also continues to exert some control through the children. I am writing this on her behalf without her knowledge ( every penny will be shown to go to her) in order that I may help her stand on her feet after her divorce. She is a kind and quiet individual that does her utmost to help anyone she can with no regard for herself and I think it is time her kindness and good efforts are paid back. At the moment she works nights and studies during the day (sometimes back to back) to provide for her children and pay the debts incurred in her name and accepted in order to finalize the divorce quickly. Please, I emplore you to make her life somewhat better after she had the courage to take such a big step. Perhaps she can be the first of many to be helped that find themselves in such a situation. Thank you.
