Hello again, guys. It is December 25th, Christmas for Catholics and Protestants. We switched to the Gregorian calendar in the early 20th century, but the Orthodox Church continues to use the Julian calendar. Therefore, they celebrate Christmas 2 weeks later, on January 7th. The most Christians of Ukraine. Although, December 25th was set as a state holiday and a day off in Ukraine too, and I hope that sooner or later we all will have Christmas on the same day.
Anyway, I have a rainy but wonderful day off today. I got up late, make pancakes for a breakfast (I do it only on my day off and not always, but my hubby love them very much). Then I went to a gym and came home with big plans.
During the last 5 years or so in December I bake Stollen. My daughter and husband very much look forward to it. According to the tradition and recipe, Stollen should be made in advance, from 2 to 4 weeks before you will taste it. Because of our Egyptian vacations I didn't make it, but today my arm is better, and my husband agreed to help, so I dedicated the rest of the day to baking.
To my astonishment my husband said: "You could bake a Challah as well, as it is Hanukkah right now. I could go and buy all you need". And we did it!
Look at my result ❤ It looks yummy but we will taste Challah tomorrow, and Stollen on January 7th when I go to see my mother, daughter and (hope so) other family.
