In my previous posts, I talked about the spin-off series that have emerged from The Big Bang Theory universe and how I came across them. Although I already mentioned it, I'll repeat that I discovered this universe through this specific series, as I had no prior interest in it. However, seeing a brief summary of Young Sheldon led me to watch it and become deeply attached to everything related to it. And even though at first I didn't know it was a prequel about the famous scientist Sheldon Cooper and how he became the person we know.
En mis anteriores publicaciones hablé sobre las series derivadas que ha traído el universo de The Big Bang Theory y el cómo llegué a ellas. Aunque ya lo dije, repetiré que este universo lo conocí con esta serie en específico, ya que anteriormente no tenía interés sobre esto, pero ver un pequeño resumen de Young Sheldon me llevó a verla y encariñarme de gran manera con todo lo relacionado con esta. Y a pesar de que al principio no sabía que era una precuela sobre el famoso científico “Sheldon Cooper” y cómo se formó para ser quien conocimos.
Young Sheldon follows the life of Sheldon Cooper from his childhood through college. The series begins with a nine-year-old boy who, thanks to his exceptional academic abilities, is admitted to high school early on. Based on this, and his well-known eccentricities, Sheldon and his family provide us with seven seasons of entertainment, featuring a truly unique and endearing cast that won the hearts of everyone who watched it over the years.
“Young Sheldon sigue la vida de Sheldon Cooper en sus tiempos de niñez hasta que llega a la universidad. Esta serie comienza con un pequeño niño de 9 años que, con su gran destreza para los estudios, es llevado a secundaria a temprana edad por méritos. A base de esto y de su excentricidad que todos conocemos, Sheldon y su familia nos dan un total de 7 temporadas para disfrutar con un elenco totalmente único y entrañable que nos robó el corazón a cada uno de los que la vimos a lo largo de tantos años.
In this series, we see younger versions of the Cooper family, who share their daily lives while they all deal with Sheldon, who is basically the most difficult person to deal with and live with. He has the unconditional love of his mother and grandmother, the rivalry of his siblings, and, even more importantly, the vivid memory of his youth with his father—everything they experienced and how his father's early death affected him. And in my opinion, what stands out most in the series are these small moments where we see Sheldon learning little lessons from his family and developing the values that define him.
En esta serie podemos ver versiones más jóvenes de la familia Cooper, quienes nos regalan su rutina mientras todos lidian con Sheldon, quien es básicamente el chico más difícil de tratar y convivir que hay. Con el amor incondicional de su madre y su abuela, la rivalidad de sus hermanos y, aún más importante, el recuerdo vivo de cómo fue su juventud junto a su padre, todo lo que vivieron y cómo le afectó su muerte a una temprana edad. Y según yo, lo que más destaca en la serie son estos pequeños momentos en donde vemos cómo Sheldon va aprendiendo las pequeñas lecciones con su familia y así formarse con aquellos valores que lo destacan.
It's worth noting that the cast for this series was impeccably cast and very well chosen. The young Cooper twins, at least, are played by Ian Armitage and Raegan Revord as Missy Cooper; they deliver excellent performances, perfectly capturing their characters' personalities. Similarly, Zoe Perry plays Mary Cooper, Sheldon's mother, who is the real-life daughter of actress Laurie Metcalf, the first to portray the same character. They are undoubtedly identical and worthy of the role.
Cabe destacar que el elenco que tuvo esta serie fue altamente impecable y muy bien electo. Por lo menos los pequeños gemelos Cooper son interpretados por Ian Armitage y Raegan Revord como Missy Cooper; estos dan una excelente interpretación a sus personajes, captando la personalidad de sus personajes. Al igual que Zoe Perry como la Mary Cooper, la mamá de Sheldon, quien es hija en la vida real de la actriz Laurie Metcalf, la primera en interpretar el mismo personaje, sin duda son idénticas y dignas del papel.
On the other hand, we have Montana Jordan, who plays Georgie Cooper, the older brother. This was a very special case, as the casting was impressive; they nailed it because of his physical resemblance to Jerry O'Connell, who first played the character as an adult. Then there's Lance Barber, who plays George Cooper, a strange case, because he had a previous appearance on The Big Bang Theory as a completely different character, but he was never criticized. He was one of the best characters in the entire series, and despite being unusual, he provided a great connection to the show. And finally, there's Meemaw, played by Annie Potts, who is my favorite character in the whole series because of her rebelliousness and because she's such a beloved character.
Por otro lado, tenemos a Montana Jordan, quien interpreta a Georgie Cooper, el hermano mayor. Este fue un caso muy especial, ya que el casting fue impresionante, porque atinaron muy bien por el parecido físico que tiene con Jerry O'Connell, quien interpretó el personaje por primera vez en versión adulta. Tenemos a Lance Barber, quien interpreta a George Cooper, un caso extraño, porque este tuvo una aparición en TBBT como otro personaje totalmente distinto, pero jamás se le juzgó, ya que este fue uno de los mejores personajes en toda la serie, y más allá de ser extraño, fue una muy buena conexión con la serie TBBT. Y por último, a Meemaw, interpretada por Annie Potts, siendo esta mi favorita en toda la serie por su rebeldía y un personaje sumamente querido.
