I’ve spent the last few days feeling truly excited—so much so that it’s put my blog reviews of movies and TV shows on hold—because one of the best series I’ve ever watched has returned to Amazon Prime Video. I first started watching it about three or four years ago; I tuned in with no particular expectations, only to discover one of the best series in the world. It features a dynamic I really love: a blend of the supernatural and the police procedural. It’s a perfect formula for engaging a diverse audience—a formula that has worked, continues to work, and will undoubtedly keep working for future viewers, as its wonderful story is sure to captivate them, too.
Realmente he pasado muchos días emocionada y eso me ha detenido en mis reseñas en mi blog sobre películas y series de televisión, ya que ha vuelto una de las mejores series que he visto a Amazon Prime Video. Esta serie la empecé a ver hace unos 3 o 4 años, luego que sin expectativas la puse, así descubriendo una de las mejores series del mundo. Esta tiene una dinámica que a mí me gusta mucho, una en la que combina lo sobrenatural con lo policial, una fórmula perfecta para atrapar a un público diverso, que sin duda funcionó, funciona y funcionará, según yo, para un público futuro que siempre podrá atrapar con su maravillosa historia.
The X-Files is a television series created and distributed by the Fox network. It follows FBI agents Mulder and Scully as they investigate cases—most of which involve strange circumstances—that must be kept hidden from the public. Mulder, an FBI agent and psychologist, serves as the central figure of the series; throughout much of the show, he seeks answers regarding his sister’s abduction—a mystery that is gradually unraveled as the series progresses. Scully, a forensic pathologist and fellow FBI agent, joins the unit following a transfer; her connection to Mulder is immediately and strikingly apparent from the very beginning.
The X Files es una serie de televisión creada y distribuida por el canal Fox; esta nos muestra los casos de los agentes Mulder y Scully del FBI, quienes investigan en su mayoría casos que están en situaciones extrañas y que deben ser ocultas como lo que son. Mulder es un oficial del FBI y psicólogo; este es el que tiene el mayor enfoque en la trama de la serie. Este, a través de una gran parte de la serie, se dedica a buscar respuestas sobre la adopción de su hermana, algo que se va respondiendo mientras corre la serie. Scully es una médica forense e igualmente agente del FBI que llega a los archivos mediante un traslado; su relación con Mulder es demasiado palpable desde el primer momento.
At the beginning, Scully remains skeptical; early on in their adventures with Mulder, the entities they encounter—thanks to the convenience of the script—always manage to stay out of her sight. Eventually, however, they witness things that she can only describe as "unexplainable"—a term she uses to avoid further confusion. This dynamic fuels one of the best relationships on television. It’s also worth noting that Mulder and Scully share a palpable "sexual tension," leading many viewers—myself included—to "ship" them. Whenever I see a kiss between them—even if it’s not "real"—I get even more excited, as it brings them that much closer to a genuine relationship.
Scully al inicio se mantiene escéptica, pues al comienzo de sus aventuras con Mulder los seres que enfrentan por milagros del guion siempre se mantuvieron fuera de la vista de ella, hasta que un día les toca presenciar muchas cosas que simplemente las describe como situaciones que no puede explicar para no generar confusión. Con esta dinámica, estos personajes mantienen una de las mejores relaciones de la televisión. Cabe mencionar que Mulder y Scully son de esos personajes con toques de “tensiones sexuales”, siendo shippeados por todo televidente que ha tenido el gusto de verlos; yo soy una: cuando veo un beso entre ellos, así sea falso, me emociono más aún por lo cerca que se vuelve una verdadera relación.
I am currently watching the final part of Season 8. I had actually reached Season 9 previously, but then Amazon removed the series from its catalog because the licensing rights had expired. Although I have Disney+, I hadn’t thought to watch it there—I mostly use that platform for other types of content. Less than a month ago, I believe, the show returned to Prime Video, which made me very happy, as I could pick up right where I had left off. However, since I didn’t really remember much, I decided to go back to Season 7, which I have now finished rewatching. Now, in Season 8, I can say that—despite Mulder’s absence from the screen—the addition of Robert Patrick as Agent "John Doggett" was a great choice; he (the same actor who plays White Dragon, Peacemaker’s father) does an impressive job, stepping into the role perfectly.
Actualmente, me encuentro viendo la parte final de la temporada 8. Realmente, antes había llegado a la temporada 9 hasta que un día Amazon sacó la serie de su catálogo por el vencimiento de los derechos. A pesar de tener Disney+, realmente no sé por qué no había accedido a verlo, pues aprovecho Disney para otro tipo de contenido. Hace menos de un mes, creo, volvió a Prime Video, dándome mucha alegría porque podía continuar en donde quedé en primera instancia. En cambio, ya que en sí no recordaba mucho, decidí volver a la temporada 7, la cual ya volví a ver. Ahora, estando en el 8, podría decir que, aunque la ausencia de Mulde en pantalla, la llegada de Robert Patrick como el agente “John Doggett” fue, según yo, un acierto, puesto que este actor (el mismo que es el Dragón Blanco, papá de Peacemaker) hace un trabajo impresionante asumiendo pulcramente su rol.
This series has become one of my all-time favorites. In fact, as I write this, I’m currently watching it; Mulder has returned, but I must admit that what I’m most excited about is reaching the more recent seasons—the ones released in our own time—which I have high hopes for. Two attractive FBI agents solving mysterious crimes is, honestly, one of the things I love most about television. As I’ve mentioned before, this series is available—at least here in Colombia—on Disney+ (its original home) and Prime Video. Esta serie se ha vuelto una de mis favoritas de todas. Actualmente, de hecho, mientras escribo esto, estoy viendo; ya volvió Mulder, pero debo admitir que mi más grande emoción está en que quiero llegar a las temporadas más actuales que llegaron en nuestra época y que en sí espero mucho. Dos agentes del FBI guapos que resuelven crímenes misteriosos es de verdad una de las cosas por las que más amo la televisión.
