About three years ago, I spent several days watching this entire series—something I had been wanting to do for a long time. Back then, having nothing else to watch, I decided to give it my full attention one day; it was undoubtedly a great decision and a wonderful experience. It is an animated series that draws you in and entertains you with the grand adventures defining every episode, featuring a deep storyline and a multitude of characters that will keep you increasingly engaged. It also reminds me of a time when we didn't have cable TV at home, so I would sometimes watch it at my grandmother's house.
Adventure Time is an animated series from Cartoon Network that follows the adventures of Finn the Human and Jake the Dog. Throughout the show—amidst their various adventures—the characters subtly reveal details and plot points that build toward a masterful conclusion, one that remains memorable to this day. It is the kind of series one can watch over and over again without issue, as each episode presents a different mission, ranging from epic battles to the everyday routine of Finn and Jake.
The most captivating aspect of Adventure Time is the personalities of its characters—especially Jake, who is incredibly outgoing and one of the show's most versatile figures. In his scenes, you can find anything from a hilarious quip to one of his signature transformations that makes you laugh, making him a fan favorite. Personally, I adore the Ice King, "Simon"; he is such a complex character and, fundamentally, the one most deeply connected to the show's universe. His influence on the series is so significant that he undergoes the most character development of anyone in the entire story.
This series makes you laugh, cry, get annoyed, and more. It truly delivers on every level, drawing you into a magnificent universe that is well worth watching. Regardless of your age, it will make you laugh and immerse you in a highly diverse world—along with the other universes that complement it, such as the fantastic creatures featured within. It offers a story that is somewhat complex yet fun, and always available to watch. It has a unique appeal, and the universe continues to be explored and expanded; even though the original series ended some time ago, there are other shows that keep broadening its scope.
The new series premieres on October 5th, but what I consider even more important is the return of the original voice actor for Jake. This character underwent a drastic change at one point because the initial portrayal gave him a very pronounced Mexican personality—something that actually offended the voice actor and sparked criticism. That backlash—which outweighed the praise—led to a drop in viewership; realizing this, the creators understood that the character possessed a unique personality that should have been preserved. The series is currently available on HBO Max, its home platform. I really hope you’ve already seen it—let me know what you thought—or at least that you decide to give it a watch.
