WHAT A MONTH!!

This edition of the Weekly Zekely is going to take on a little different form from the regular retrospective look at the week's adventure. Mainly because I am not out, socializing, sporting in groups, musicing and all the other things that make for a good Zekely.

It may read like a "What I did this Pandemic" report you would submit upon returning to school.

The pandemic has me self isolating and social distancing with the family as much as I possibly can. Besides being a terrible home schooler, I am simply trying to inspire the kids to learn new things, enjoy the time off, and treat the different kind of freedom as a gift that helps us do the things we don't normally get to do.

With Town Crier Marketing town-crier@town-crier, we immediately shifted our focus from sales generation and customer addition to volunteering. We have offered free digital business assessments for any small business looking to make progress during these times. At-cost web development services to help any business go online with e-commerce. Volunteering promotion and home delivery services for local businesses.

For more on that and as a personal favour to me, please follow town-crier@town-crier here on Hive as I will be posting some uplifting stories starting today.

This isn't another in my series of "Scary Characters I Meet in Spooky Places". It is a fun shot I sent to a business owner who asked me to wear a mask when I arrived to volunteer. The mask he is referring to of course was a medical mask to protect me and the rest of the folks but I had fun with it.

Speaking of medical masks and fun, did you see our hoser Prime Minister instantly regret his moist speaking?

Some of my time has been dedicated to volunteering to help the community and small business. All of my promotion and consulting has become free to local businesses as it is more important now to help than it is to receive it for me. This is a shot of the back of my car with Easter Meals provided by https://revival.house who has completely revised their menu and business to offer contactless delivery and pickup of meals. If businesses in your area are doing the same, see how you can support them. With the expenses like utilities, salaries, goods and rent, I can assure you there is not much if any profit for them doing this. They are simply staying active, engaged with the community, and doing what they do best for the greater good.

Please volunteer, engage on social media with these brands, or order to support your local restaurants and I promise you will not regret it.

I am enjoying shifts of meal delivery including a very special one we will cover on town.crier@town.crier.

Volunteering is full or rewards I have found. Besides the satisfaction of helping others and serving as an example to others looking to help, there are tasty rewards! After my shift, the chef went off menu to produce this tasty combination of Easter mashed potatoes and gravy, mixing in some fantastic skewer beef and veggies! So damn yummy and probably tasted even better with the gratitude seasoning with which it was served.

I took my patented Extreme Dramatic Close-up intended to bring you to the edge of my plate for full enjoyment. I will have to see if tasteem@tasteem made the hop to Hive as I have a BUNCH of reviews to do!

Online gaming! This is a shot of online/remote Dungeons and Dragons which I have been playing with friends near and far for months. Having set this up before any hint of pandemic, it is REALLY paying off now. We have taken what we learned about the roll20.net platform and passed it on to a group of players who used to gather in person weekly to play. They don't have to cancel their fun because of social distancing and are now gathering virtually every week to play in isolation and safety.

So much old school, nerdy fun! Give it a try!

It wouldn't be a Zekely Review without a little beer in it! To my immense relief, the government has deemed Liquor and Beer Stores as essential services. Of course there was some social justice warrior backlash over this proclamation as many sanctimoniously panned the inclusion. Medically speaking though, adding a whole host of alcohol withdrawal cases to a health care system bracing for an unmanageable onslaught of COVID cases makes no sense. Lightly put, being able to enjoy a glass of wine or beer at the end of a long day dealing with a global pandemic is going to do more good than harm.

That being said, I have probably gone out to get 2 weeks worth of beer 3 times already this week. ;) This one is in my crystal skull gaming mug, is a wonderful one-off New England IPA from https://www.blackswanbrewing.ca, and is equal parts delicious and supporting of local small business! Win/win!

There is a movement of late to have kids use their sidewalk chalk to create positive messages and nice art on the driveway. Not only is it fun and creative for them, it is very enjoyable for the older couples forced to self isolate and not see their grand kids for their own safety. I snap one of these whenever I see it and will assemble a few along with a nice positive story in another post.

Get your kids outside yet still safe if you can and show me your pics!

All in all, you cannot say I am enjoying this pandemic as much as I am making the most of it. As Winston Churchill can probably be loosely quoted, 'Never waste a good crisis.' I am taking the time to help, learn, and live.....which is really a beautiful change and experience. I am constantly reminded that there are parts of the world where it is 100x as difficult to get through this alive and safe.

Celebrate your medical workers. Be thankful for what you have. Seize the day and improve yourself with the gift of time you are given. Reach out to someone who would love to hear from you. Grab a guitar and go play songs on the sidewalk outside an old folks home. I better end this before I create a Zeke Thoughts post!
