Gordon virtually greets you just in front of the front door. The screen has a nice protective golden railing so you don't get too close to the talent.
Fantastic Place!
As you might expect, the place was packed before it even opened with reservations most likely made months ago. Plenty of well-trained wait staff to make sure the experience would match the anticipated cuisine. The flaming and sparkling decor was something to see and the dining room was deceptively large. You can see the bride and some family members on the right getting settled.
Being perhaps the largest group and most special occasion, we were seated right up front where the magic happens. The kitchen was not only visible to the dining room, it was open without any barriers except a bustling servers highway. I have worked in many kitchens but none as fancy as this or as part of a performance show. Neat lighting and visual effects as a backdrop for some solid teamwork.
The place setting was refine elegance with monogramed napkin, gold silverware and etched drinking glasses on a black wooden table with no table cloth.
Can I offer you a drink?
Most certainly you can! This place is fancy enough not to need draft taps so I opted for the closest thing to local craft beer. Big Dogs Craft Lager was clean and clear and refreshing enough for me to forgive it for not being an IPA. @davedickeyyall would probably approve and he is actually on his way to Vegas in the next couple weeks so perhaps he can confirm my opinion.
Dinner Time
It was a Prix Fix menu with a couple of selections for each course. Take a look at that and think of what you would order.
As fitting as the caesar salad would be as we were on the Caesars Palace grounds, I went for the heirloom tomato burrata salad. Such simple ingredients but so decadent and photogenic! You don't win friends with salad but might gain some #foodie or #vegetarian followers on #Hive
My better half opted for the crispy skin salmon with fancy lentils, fennel garnish, and french butter white sauce. She enjoyed it thoroughly and would likely have eaten a second if offered.
I opted for their trademark beef wellington. As a steak enjoyer but not a purebred steak lover, I can't imagine a more perfect piece of beef! The crust was subtle yet scrumptious. the beef was impossibly perfect. I can only imagine it was sous-vide prepared and babysat on a perfectly temperature-regulated grill. A small yet appropriate portion with delicious little veggies and demi-glass sauce.
Dessert!
I found it interesting to see only 1 option on the dessert section of the menu and felt fortunate that I am a chocolate and ice-cream lover. The sticky toffee pudding was something else. Rich & delicious, and perfectly topped with cool ice cream that seemed to dance on the warm decadence. Perfectly sized portion that was one rich bite after the other til it was done. I may have stolen a couple bites of my better half's desert.
Simply put, this place was pretty damn good. Worth it for the quality of experience without being stuffy. The food tasted superb despite being rather plain ingredients. The service was informal but purposeful and it did feel like a special night.
I am glad to say that I have gone and enjoyed everything about the experience. Would recommend!
