Sara sat, bored, with her feet up on the table. Garrick handed her the bowl of crisps, his mouth already stuffed full of them.
“You ever think about going into another line of work?” asked Sara.
“Not really, no,” replied Garrick.
“What about you, Nip?” Sara turned to her small friend.
“I mean, I already balance this with my academic life. I think I’ve found a nice mix.” Nip pressed her hands into the bowl in Sara’s lap, grabbing a few crisps for herself.
“What about something other than real estate clean-up?” said Sara.
“Keeps me close to home, gives me time for the wife and kids. Couldn’t see myself going into many other niches as an adventurer, to be honest,” responded Garrick with his mouth full.
“Likewise, as long as I’m nearby my lab and the university I’m happy to do whatever. Real estate just so happened to fit the bill.” Nip delicately placed a crisp in her mouth, savouring each bite.
“I see.” Sara paused for a moment, looking up to the ceiling. “I’m just glad I met you guys. You’re the only things tying me to this job, unlike your families and professional life.”
“Aww, Sara. Thanks,” Nip held Sara's hand in her own, and squeezed, giving her an affirming smile.
