Today's Prompt: Wooden Bowl
The basketball careened across the dining room, landing firmly in Edgar’s small hands. Pushing it from his chest, he launched it back to his partner. Alice caught the ball as it whipped above her head, her arms struggling to hold the weight of her arms and the rubber mass itself.
“When is your Mum going to be finished outside?” questioned Alice, as she lobbed the ball back to Edgar.
“No idea, she took aaaages yesterday.” Edgar bounced the ball on the hardwood floor idly, before raising it back to his chest and rocketing it towards Alice.
The ball flew across the room at speed, and Alice ducked in fear of the ball hitting her in the face. Flailing her arms about, she deflected the ball before it could make contact with any more fragile parts of her being. The ball ricocheted off the nearby wall, knocking family pictures to the floor with a resounding crash, landing on the dining table and bouncing straight into the wooden bowl holding a bunch of apples and bananas. With a splat, the fruit was flung off the table. Seemingly satisfied with its destruction, the ball slowed to a crawl and gently rocked off of the dining room table, landing at Edgar’s feet, his mouth ajar in horror.
