Hello hivers. How was your day? Hope you're all fine and made your day productive.
Today, I will share to you the food that I learned to cook because of my husband. I admit that I am not good in cooking unlike others. Actually, it's still two years that I learned how to cook. It was when I and my husband lived together under the same roof.
**I'll share to you a short story of myself why I don't like to cook before. Or may I say, I'm afraid cooking. **
When I was still young at the age of 12, I was told by my father too cook noodles. I bought instant noodles that time because that's what my father told me. Jnstant noodles was easy to cook especially if you'll follow the steps. One instant noodles will only cooked with 1 cup water but my father like to put more water so I followed. But he said , I don't know how to cook because it don't have taste. Of course, it won't have because I put more than a 1 cup water as what he told me. He then, told mw to put it back on thw casserole and add aalt so I did. But accident happened, I poured the gas from the lamp I am holding to light the place where I am cooking. We don't have yet electricity that time that's why I was holding a lamp. Our lamp was made by a bottle and inserted to a can of sardines. And accidentally the bottle where there's a gas inside shoot to the casserole I was cooking for instant noodles. And then, my father was mad and scolded me hard. I understand him though because he was hungry from work and I made mistake but it made me afraid to cook in the kitchen. And everytime they told me to cook, I will always have the product either tasteless or salty. So, I knew that I am not into cooking because of that.
Those memories keeps haunting me and I always say no if they will tell me to cook viand because I'm afraid I might made mostake and everyone don't like the food I cooked. But there were times that if I'm alone and no one will command me to cook, I will cook food and will have good results but that only happens seldomly.
Until I met my husband. He's a good cook. I mean, he likes cooking and I can say that he's really good in the kitchen. I told him I don't know how to cook and he said he will teach me especially if we're be living in the same roof. So, last 201o, we lived together and there all started. At first I am hesitant but he's really eager to teach me. And will praise the food that I cooked for him. I know it's not perfect but I am just thankful coz he really appreciate what I did in the kitchen. I prefer cleaning the house and laundry than cooking but with him, I started to love cooking.
When I was pregnant and he already have a work, I decided to do my job as a wife. So, I started watching youtube. And the first I learned from youtube was the Caldereta. In my first try, I did it perfectly and my husband really appreciate the food and I still remember he finished three plates of rice because of it. I was really happy and proud of myself. After that instance, I started to learn other recipe and made myself learn from it until I felt that I changed a lot. Now, I am confident to cook in my parent's house. Everytime I go there, I will surely cook if I have time.
Now, my husband's favorite is Caldereta. And everytime he crave for it, he will buy thw ingredients and will let me cook it for him just like today. I was shocked when he got home and told mw to cook him Caldereta. He didn't told me earlier. It was already 1pm in the afternoon and he wants me to cook Caldereta. So, since there's already ingredients, I let myself busy at the kitchen.
Here's the Caldereta recipe and procedure that I learned from youtube. (I change the procedure because in the video, it took a lot of time to cook, that's why.)
Ingredients:
1kg Chicken (chopped)
1 Caldereta sauce
1 can Liver Spread
1 chicken cube
Carrots (cut into cubes)
Potato (cut into cubes)
Bell pepper
Ground black pepper
1tsp. Salt
Procedure:
- Put the chopped chicken in the casserole and put the ground black pepper and salt.. Put it into a medium heat and let it boil. The chicken will produce water from it's meat so no need to put water.
- When the chicken is already half cooked, put chicken cubes same with the bell pepper, carrots and potato. And let it boil until it cooks.
- Put the liver spread and let it simmer for 2 minutes.
- Then add the caldereta sauce and let it simmer until completely cooked.
- This is the finish product.
Closing thought.
I may learned cooking late as a woman, but atleast I made myself proud for learning to cook. It's better for a woman to cook so that we can serve our family especially our children. I am trying my best to learn more recipe so that I can cooked food for my son and husband. Everytime my husband appreciates my effort and the food I served, I always felt so happy.
I may had a bad experience in cooking before but I will make sure to make a lot of beautiful memories in cooking now and in the future. I learnt from my bad experience that I should not lose hope of things that i thought would be impossible for me. That I should learn from my mistake and made everything better result.
That's all hivers and thank you for reading my post. Have a nice day.
