I've been working at a sushi shop for the past 2 years, and it was draining all my energies. The schedule was awful and it didn't even pay good. I knew I had to find something better for me.
I've always had an interest for coding. When I was 12, I wanted to code a website that would host minigames. I actually designed it on Microsoft Word (yeah LOL), using tables, because at that time a friend of mine told me that websites were built this way. I had no idea what I was doing, but I remember having so much fun designing that thing. So 10 years later I thought, why not?
I decided to teach myself how to code about 8 months ago. At the beginning I felt really, really lost. The amount of things I had to learn overwhelmed me but eventually I could break it down. I started learning HTML, quickly transitioning to CSS. The whole world changed with it. I had so much fun learning it, specially animations, that the process of learning wasn't a 'hard time' anymore for me.
When I felt confident with those 2 basic languages I got into Javascript and then jQuery. I knew that with those 3 technologies, with the help of the jQuery library, I had an opportunity to enter the industry.
And today I did! I've been hired part-time until September, when the contract with the restaurant ends, and then full time! All my efforts finally paid! I'm so happy!
