It rained for most of today, so when I went into the bathroom this evening to take a bath, I decided to do something I rarely do; I decided to heat the water up to have a nice hot bath. And trust me when I say it was enjoyable because it felt wonderful, which made me remember the last time I had taken a cold bath that almost took my life.
You see, I've always been one of those guys who do that silly thing where we give ourselves private tasks and try to prove to ourselves that we can accomplish them. For the longest time, I've always told myself that people who bathe with hot water were sissies, not because I believed it, but because I felt it would be a fun task challenging myself all the time to bathe with cold water no matter the weather condition.
Well, on this fateful morning while I was still in the NYSC military camp, I had woken up by 2am as usual to go have my bath. When I first got up, I could tell that everywhere was unusually cold. Normally, I would have postponed the bath, seeing how there was no way I could heat the water up in camp, but I knew that if I didn't take my bath that morning, I would have to fight for a space in the bathroom later that day with over a hundred other guys, and I hated that, so I decided to go take the bath anyway.
I still remember that morning like it was yesterday because the moment the cold water touched my body, I knew I had made a huge mistake. I probably spent less than two minutes in that bathroom, and by the time I was out, I was shivering, almost like someone who had been locked in a freezer.
Tkkk date, I've never felt any cold like that. Thinking about how I felt then and how nice this hot water feels on my body made me realize how stupid I've been all these years for always opting for cold water. Don't get me wrong, taking a cold bath has its moments, but please, if the weather is cold, do not hesitate to heat that water up and have a pleasant hot bath.
It will be worth it.
