The Portrait of Dorian Gray./// El retrato de Dorian Gray
Synopsis.
Basil Hallward is an artist who is strongly impressed by the aesthetic beauty of a young man named Dorian Gray and begins to admire him. Basil paints a portrait of the young man. Chatting in Hallward's garden, Dorian meets a friend of Basil's and begins to be captivated by Lord Henry's worldview. Exposing a new kind of hedonism, Lord Henry indicates that "the only thing that is worth in life is beauty, and the satisfaction of the senses." Realizing that one day his beauty will fade, Dorian wishes he would always be the age when Basil painted him in the picture. While he maintains forever the same appearance of the painting, the portrayed figure grows old because of him. His pursuit of pleasure leads him to a series of acts of lust; but the portrait serves as a reminder of the effects on your soul, where the portrait will bear the burden of your aging and your sins.

Oscar Wilde addresses narcissism as the main theme, like Faust, showing us how morality and hedonism have a clearly tense relationship. The author's narrative is a clear reflection of the time, which in my opinion is the most precious to read, with memorable characters, peculiar, dramatic and mysterious plot, it is without a doubt a book that must be read.
And you? What do you think of this classic of literature?
