Sinopsis La acción se sitúa durante el reinado de Luis XIII, en Francia. D'Artagnan es un joven de 18 años, hijo de un noble gascón, antiguo mosquetero, de escasos recursos económicos. Se dirige a París con una carta de su padre para el señor de Treville, jefe de los Mosqueteros del Rey. En una posada, durante su ruta, D'Artagnan desafía a un caballero que acompaña a una bella y misteriosa dama. Los tres mosqueteros es, casi con toda seguridad, la obra más conocida de su autor, el escritor francés Alejandro Dumas. A lo largo del último siglo, esta novela ha sido llevada al cine y la televisión en numerosas ocasiones.

Synopsis´ The action takes place during the reign of Louis XIII, in France. D'Artagnan is an 18-year-old young man, the son of a Gascon nobleman, a former musketeer, with limited financial resources. He heads to Paris with a letter from his father to Monsieur de Treville, chief of the King's Musketeers. In an inn, during his route, D'Artagnan challenges a knight who accompanies a beautiful and mysterious lady. The Three Musketeers is almost certainly the best-known work of its author, the French writer Alexander Dumas. Throughout the last century, this novel has been made into film and television on numerous occasions.

Reseña. Siguiendo el hilo de una de mis anteriores reseñas de Alejandro Dumas, con el libro anterior “El Tulipán Negro” quede muy enganchada con el autor, así que decidí leer Los Tres Mosqueteros.

Review. Following the thread of one of my previous reviews of Alexander Dumas, with the previous book "The Black Tulip" I was very hooked with the author, so I decided to read The Three Musketeers.

Jamás lo había leído a pesar de saber que es un clásico, pues tenía la idea errónea de que es de esa clase de libros que te cuesta para leer, pero fue todo lo contrario, en la biblioteca de mi casa Los Tres Mosqueteros está dividido en dos partes, así que tenía la idea de que si me gustaba uno pues comenzaba a leer el otro tomo.

I had never read it despite knowing that it is a classic, because I had the wrong idea that it is the kind of books that you find difficult to read, but it was the opposite, in my home library The Three Musketeers is divided into two parts, so I had the idea that if I liked one then I would start reading the other volume.

La historia comienza con D’Artagnan un joven gascón que emprende su viaje a la capital de Francia, para cumplir con su sueño de pertenecer a los mosqueteros. Con una carta en mano, que es la recomendación de su padre al capitán de los Mosqueteros, que era un buen amigo suyo cuando eran más jóvenes, D’Artagnan va muy seguro de que va a entrar a la división que desea por su ingenio y valentía.

The story begins with D’Artagnan, a young Gascon who sets out on his journey to the capital of France, to fulfill his dream of belonging to the Musketeers. With a letter in hand, which is the recommendation of his father to the captain of the Musketeers, who was a good friend of his when they were younger, D'Artagnan is very sure that he will enter the division he wishes for his ingenuity and bravery.

Vemos que incluso antes de presentarse al capitán se mete en problemas, se ha batido con uno de los hombres de confianza del Cardenal Richelieu, que es uno de los más influyentes en Francia, y poco luego promete un duelo a “Los Tres Mosqueteros” que son Porthos, Aramis y Athos, pero durante el duelo llegan algunos hombres de Richelieu y los cuatro se unen para luchar contra ellos, derrotándolos exitosamente, con esta hazaña D’Artagnan se gana la camaderia de los tres mosqueteros e incluso un reconocimiento del rey, dando inicio a las aventuras de estos 4 compinches.

Vemos como D’Artagnan se enamora Constance Bonacieux, la esposa del casero donde el renta una habitación, donde muere trágicamente a manos de Milady de Winter una de las villanas de la historia, que con su belleza y inteligencia inmensos, que la ayuda a convertirse en una asesina icónica de la literatura, cómplice en ocasiones del cardenal, con un pasado sorpresivo y estrechamente relacionado con Athos.

We see how D'Artagnan falls in love with Constance Bonacieux, the landlord's wife, where he rents a room, where he tragically dies at the hands of Milady de Winter, one of the villains in history, who with her immense beauty and intelligence, helps her become an iconic murderer of literature, an accomplice of the cardinal at times, with a surprising past and closely related to Athos.

Vemos a la Reina de Austria, un personaje torturado y triste con un amor imposible, El duque de Buckingham, aquí vemos que el cardenal esta secretamente enamorado de la reina, al enterarse de la relación de la reina y el duque hace lo imposible junto con Milady para que ambos queden expuestos ante el rey, ante tal situación D’Artagnan ayuda a la reina evitando el desastre, ganándose su gratitud y la amistad del duque.

We see the Queen of Austria, a tortured and sad character with an impossible love, The Duke of Buckingham, here we see that the cardinal is secretly in love with the queen, upon learning of the relationship of the queen and the duke does the impossible together with Milady so that both are exposed to the king, in such a situation D'Artagnan helps the queen avoiding disaster, earning her gratitude and the friendship of the duke.

En mi opinión me hubiera gustado leer más el desarrollo de personajes como Constance Bonacieux, Planchet o Lord Winter, pero sin duda es una obra excepcional que te mantendrá entretenido por horas.

In my opinion I would have liked to read more about the development of characters like Constance Bonacieux, Planchet or Lord Winter, but without a doubt it is an exceptional work that will keep you entertained for hours.

Intrigas, duelos, romances, amistad y hermandad es lo que se encuentra en Los Tres Mosqueteros sin olvidar el contexto histórico, aunque claramente con ciertas distorsiones para que se adapten a la obra.

Intrigues, duels, romances, friendship and brotherhood is what is found in The Three Musketeers without forgetting the historical context, although clearly with certain distortions to suit the work.

Personalmente a esta altura me he leído la mayoría de libros de Dumas y se ha convertido en uno de mis escritores favoritos, con una narrativa única y detallada que logra mantenerte enganchado a la obra y te hace querer leer más.

Personally at this point I have read most of Dumas's books and he has become one of my favorite writers, with a unique and detailed narrative that manages to keep you hooked on the work and makes you want to read more.
