![ENGLISH]

Every week goes by so fast that we often go through life on autopilot, always following the same routine. This week has felt slow to me, giving me time to reflect on so many things we go through as if they didn’t matter—because they’re commonplace and repetitive. But life often tests us so that we can think things through more carefully and be more grateful for everything we have and experience every day.

I’ve been on bed rest for over a week due to a sprain and haven’t left the house. The first week, the farthest I could go was from my bed to the bathroom. Now I’m like a child, just starting to walk a little. My ankle still hurts, and I can’t stand being cooped up anymore, but this week has helped me reflect on the things I do day in and day out—the things we work ourselves to the bone for every day—they keep running even if we’re not there. Nothing’s going to change; clients will wait for someone else who can do the same job. So we should take life in stride; at home, there are others who will take responsibility for the tasks that fall to us.

I think that this week, since I’ve been confined to bed all day or sitting with my leg elevated, I’ve been reflecting on all the important things I’ve put off because I didn’t have enough time, and now that I have the time, there are things I can’t do because I can’t walk. However, thanks to technology, I’ve been able to set priorities so that when I get better, I can do what I need to do.

The truth is, it’s hard to spend a week and a half resting; I can’t imagine what it’s like for people who’ve been in bed for so long, but the worst part for me has been the power outages and the heat they cause. Every day the power goes out for 6 hours, which makes me think of my Cuban friends who sometimes go without power for more than 12 hours—it’s terrible. It feels like the hours and minutes are passing in slow motion. What’s helped me is that I’ve been able to make some accessories and simple crafts that I’d had in mind but hadn’t gotten around to doing.

When we’re sick or limited by something—in my case, because I don’t feel sick but rather limited for a while—time moves slowly, but it gives us the chance to analyze what we’re doing right and what we’re not, and God gives us the opportunity to reflect, nurture things, and perhaps come up with new projects.

I also took the opportunity to finish a book I’d stopped reading due to lack of time—it’s called The Secrets of a Millionaire Mind, a book I recommend. I’ve just started reading another one. During this time of leisure, I think one can still be productive in some way, and that’s what matters: not letting circumstances get the better of us. Tomorrow will be another day, and tomorrow I do plan to leave the house. It was a week of reflection and productivity.
