"The masterpiece of injustice is to appear to be fair without actually being so"

                    Anonymous

I think that in my country, at least 6 out of 10 people have been victims of crime. We’ve had times when crime was everywhere, and crime rates were high. Personally, I’ve had several incidents where I was a victim, and I remember a few that I can share with you today.

The first time it happened to me, I was coming from downtown on a perfectly ordinary bus. I asked the driver to stop so I could get off right in front of my house, but the bus stopped one house further down the street. I remember it was around 5 p.m., the sky was a bit overcast. When I got off, I started walking toward my house while taking out my keys. Suddenly, two guys with a knife called out to me and said, “Before you go inside, give us your necklace and earrings.” I was surprised they knew where I lived, since I hadn’t even reached the front door yet, and the worst part is that the jewelry wasn’t even gold or anything like that.

On another occasion, I had a job in the same town near my house. Every afternoon I would walk there, and the only valuable thing I carried was a cell phone. I remember that cell phones were all the rage back then, and I had one of those. I carried the phone in my little purse, along with a small pastry for a snack and my ID; I didn’t carry any cash because I always left my cards at home.

To get to work, I had to pass a small plaza and a church right there in the plaza. It was about 2 p.m. maybe a little past 1 since I started work at that time and would leave a few minutes early, As I walked through the plaza, I saw two suspicious looking guys. The problem was that I saw them head-on and couldn’t turn back I was already halfway there, And to make matters worse, I was limping a little because I’d had a problem with my foot, so no matter how fast I walked, they were going to catch up to me, and at that time of day, there was no one in the square or anywhere nearby.

I kept walking and was already near the church, maybe halfway there when they caught up with me and demanded money. I told them I didn’t have any, which was the truth. That made them angry, so they snatched my purse, took my phone, and, while they were at it, the cake too. I told them they were a bunch of gluttons for taking the cake. Thank God they didn’t hurt me, Then my husband paid them to get my own phone back. The criminals’ nerve is unbelievable, but it was cheaper to pay them to return it than to buy a new one.

And just like these two stories, I have three more there was a time when there was a lot of crime here, but thank God it’s decreased a bit.

Thanks to friend galenkp@galenkp for the weekend topics and motivating us to create content, in this your week #312 see you in a next post 😉, blessings 😘 .
