! [ENGLISH]

While traveling through part of my state of Aragua, I had forgotten about this plaza—until I passed right in front of it and had some errands to run very close by, so I stopped to take in the plaza whose existence I had forgotten. This is the so-called Plaza del Estudiante, also known as the plaza across from MercadoLibre; it’s a fairly busy plaza for people who live near Ayacucho Avenue in Aragua state.

This plaza was rebuilt about five years ago, as several administrations have come and gone, each implementing different changes. But this time, it has been rebuilt in a very attractive way—much better than in previous years, in my opinion. Located in Mariño and very close to Marío Bruceño Iragorri, you can see many people passing through it.

This plaza gets its name from the bust of Simón Rodríguez that used to stand there. But this time I didn’t see any bust; I don’t know if they removed it. What I did notice is that it’s changed so much—there are playgrounds all over the place. In other words, there are about four or five playgrounds for children, young people, and everyone else to have fun, in addition to many areas for exercising.

I saw a section with weight machines for working out legs, arms, and a stationary bike, among other things. This is because the square is divided into different areas—it’s very large, shaped like an oval—and running the entire length is a path lined with concrete benches and tables, where you can see many people sitting: some eating, others studying, others talking—there weren’t any empty tables; every one was occupied—and best of all, there are lots of trees.

In addition to that, there are tables for playing chess and ping-pong—about four for ping-pong and about four for chess. I really liked that because people of all ages—children, teenagers, and adults—can go there to enjoy the atmosphere of this plaza. Another thing that caught my attention is that it has a small amphitheater where they’ll surely put on the occasional play; it’s small but looks very nice.

In the center there’s a fountain that I don’t think works; there’s also a health clinic in this park, and of course several playground structures for the kids to play on—slides, swings, and seesaws. I saw a lot of people playing with their children that day, which made me very happy because it means there are many close-knit families.

The sidewalks are made of concrete and are everywhere; there are dirt floors, concrete floors, and floors with concrete pavers because there are several different areas. I also saw that they have a soccer field, and it’s a really big little field. This one is completely closed off—I imagine they’ll open it for certain games. Maybe you have to ask for it because there’s a booth—a place where people can handle that.

While I was taking pictures of the park,
I saw parents playing with their children; others were sharing a light meal; some were studying; and others were walking. It’s nice to see how people can relax without a care, seeking out a pleasant, open space—everything was very peaceful. I went early in the morning, and since it was Sunday, there were quite a few people there. To me, it’s a very beautiful park that’s been very well renovated and rebuilt.
