Greetings to all, today I want to share with you the nostalgia that visiting what was my home has generated in me, since 2018 I was not going to visit the countryside and my brother with the family that still live there, I moved to the city when I was 18 years old, that is, 38 years ago, and on this recent visit I have had a moment to reflect on the passage of time, how the circumstances of life in the countryside have changed, and above all, I feel nostalgic for the years of my childhood.
La casa donde crecí/ the house where i grew up
I grew up in a village called El Pozo, this is in the state of Lara, a little further than the town of Río Tocuyo, there I lived in a small bahareque house with my mother, father, grandfather and my 9 brothers and sisters, my father is currently blind and has lived in the city for many years, he always longs for the countryside where he left part of his legacy as a goat breeder to my older brother Andrés, he continues to do this work and is the only one who stayed there in another house of course but very close to the one we grew up in.

Since, in addition to being blind, my father is 86 years old, I suggested to my eldest daughter@mayoly1 and her husband that they take us back and forth in their truck, because, like my father, I wanted to return to visit the countryside. and to see how things were over there, it took a little time to make the trip because gasoline is very scarce nowadays, but my son-in-law stood in line and was able to fill up the truck, so we were finally able to make the family trip.
Yo en el corral / me in the barnyard
We left very early in the morning and some of my brothers took advantage of the trip and went with us, fortunately we arrived when the goats were still not released from the pen, the road is still a bit difficult, the asphalt road ends halfway to the farmhouse, besides this road has always been very curvy. As soon as we arrived we began to help my brother Andrés with the tasks in the corral, I began to throw away the prickly pear leaves that fall inside the corral when the goats return daily, this has been done since my time with a stick.

Those who enjoyed the trip the most were my young grandchildren Rafael and Lucas, they were excited with the animals, my brother@drhueso even put them to milk the goats.

The hours passed very quickly and I just walked by the outside of what used to be my house, it is no longer inhabited, it is very deteriorated and I think that one day this house is going to fall down, many feelings of sadness invade me when I realize of the deterioration of its structure, I spent the best childhood here, although they were very hard times where the economy was difficult, the climate was not so dry now, at that time it used to rain a lot despite being a semi-arid climate and the dams were not removed so often, my brother is constantly fighting for the goats not to die from the long droughts, but the number of animals they can raise is decreasing every year.

Despite the fact that I achieved my goal of visiting the field this year, I feel that I should return, we did not have time to go to the cemetery, this one is a little further away, I wanted to visit the graves of my mother and my grandfather, we passed only by the front and the house where my other sister Rosa lives, but unfortunately she was not there, however I saw one of my nephews who I had not seen for many years, I left some things for my sister with him and the promise to return one day to see her, the telephone connections are difficult so we couldn't tell her in advance that we would go to her house that day. The sunset came very soon and we had to return to the city before nightfall because the road is difficult.

When I lived in that house we did not have electricity, currently there is electricity and there are many things that have improved with it, and people can keep the meat and dairy they produce with goats for longer, but unfortunately the climate is worse and the rains less frequent, although my brother built a well and a kitchen with a wood-burning fireplace, for the rest of the crisis in the country it also affects them, on the next trip I make I would like to visit at least the outside of the school where I studied, This one is a few kilometers from El Pozo and it seems incredible to me now that I walked that distance every day in my school years, tears come to my eyes with so many memories, I only hope to return and see so many things that still exist before they stop to do it or that I myself part of this earthly plan.
Despidiéndome de mi antiguo hogar / Saying goodbye to my old home
Time is sometimes cruel, but at the same time there is always hope, I have many nephews in the countryside because my brother had 11 children and most of them are there and formed a family, my sister, although she lives further away, also has children who maintain their roots in the countryside, I feel that all the people who have lived a migration from the countryside to the city have to return sometime in their life and reflect as I do at this moment, I can only thank God for the family I have and also thank the transit that I have had for my life.
